Somehow this reminds me of an Alex Reynard story where the hero-villain told the heroine that the time had come to - kill her, as they had planned together. She had been drugged, BUT the poison had been diluted so she'd wake up in about 90 minutes, instead of dying. During that time, he had dressed her for the outside cold, conveyed her to a bus shelter and put in her overcoat pocket money and a bus ticket to a town where there'd be a shelter for runaways. He did not have the heart to really kill her...
He had been arrested for sexual relations with the underage girl, and viciously interrogated by the no-nonsense cops -but manages to take a pill he had made made that would cause sudden and instant death. Meanwhile the girl reaches the shelter -and is run over by a truck before she could ring the doorbell.
The hero-villain awakens in what seems to be a police station and is interrogated by a cop -who turns out to be a DEMON. They are in Hell ! He is then ushered into a theater for an orientation presentation; history, portals, points of interest, events ....They are in level 2. Believe me, NOBODY wants to see level 6 ,let alone 7, and nobody banished to level 7 has ever come out...
The stories are rather strong and yiffy. The author may be insane, and the stories are an acquired taste.

I FORGOT to mention that the girl went to level 2, and ran to greet her lover, just as the demon reassured the hero-villain that things were OK.
Heaven is a closed place now, so hell is where all souls go. Levels 1 & 2 are paradise.Level 3 has traffic jams, air pollution, in short, it's a bit grubby -like here !
Call it Limbo. Levels 4-6 are purgatory, and 7 is HELL as you understand it !
