This is a piece with which I've been toying off and on for some years now. I decided to at least lay down a track of what I have so far. The image I get with this music is gorgeously majestic to me--driving along a flat stretch of interstate in the middle of the desert in Arizona, small brambles and cacti dotting the landscape, the high plateaus in the distance sticking up like giant gumdrops painted by the varying shades of the earth. And further off, several miles away, I see the rolling purple clouds of a July thunderstorm, hosing down the old, dry bones of this earth.
Here are a few pictures I've found online through a Google search that are similar to what I see:

No idea when this piece will be finished, however, or where it goes after what I've got so far. Hope you like it nonetheless.

I must say, I enjoyed this. Even before reading your description, the image in my head was immediately painted of a desert montage, driving right about sunset just as the drops start to hit the windshield. The driver has something on his mind, but doesn't know what sharing it could mean; he just needs some time to think. The piece itself is as refreshing as it is mesmerizing... I just listened to it three times, picking it apart. I do hope you finish it.
Hehe...thanks, but I don't play guitar, just FYI. I play piano, and this was recorded using a very nice guitar patch on my Korg Triton Extreme (hence why there's a Db2 played at a couple points, which is impossibly low for the standard stringing of an acoustic guitar--3 semitones than the low E string).
Interesting thoughts! Oddly enough, I've been going more of a folk rock route with it now...developing it more with fretless bass, drums and auxiliary percussion, some piano/pad synth stuff, and of course lead and rhythm electric guitars--but I'm sure that's a completely different route than what you were thinking. It kinda took me by surprise, too.
