Pacific Rim.
Hmm. That film created many very mixed feelings in me. I spent quite some time fruitlessly trying to explain the abyss between the my joy and my disappointment in the movie, so how about we put it this way:
I liked it enough to paint a giant mech inspired by it. It has cannons, because I like cannons and god knows they didn’t see enough action in the movie
And…and yet, I want to slap the genius that wrote the script and tell them to feel ashamed about themselves for thinking the “nuclear powered” is the same as “analog”. So very ashamed.
Conclusion: Perhaps I’m thinking too hard about this, a movie that in the words of the director, “is supposed to make the 13 year old in us exited”. But for crying out loud, Aussie, YOU SHOOT MISSILES FROM YOUR TEATS!
ACT LIKE IT.

I loved the movie with all its faults and glory. x3
Anyhow, now that I see your design here, did get me thinking why they didn't have such a thing alongside the Jaegers. I mean, this mobile cannon seems much like a point defense to be deployed to the shores as the Kaiju close in if the Jaeger can't stop them before reaching land. Having some point defenses along the shores would have seemed better than those damned solid walls they were trying to build, without anything near 'guard towers' or the like. Also considering that these much larger cannons can output more power than the mobile versions of blaster/plasma cannons the Jaegers have equiped.
But there's always the sequel. Hopefully <3

There is another "rim" Movie called: Atlantic Rim.
Its a cheab Movie Version from Pacific Rim, but it is at this Time on Blue Ray and Pacific Rim in the Cinemas.
Its has a nice Grafic and don't looks so much like a cheap Movie, but the Storywriter has made a big mess with it.
First: The Monsters look like big Dinosaurs with some Gimmiks.
Second: It's every Time the Same Dino in different Highs and Ages
Third: There are 2 of them but in the Movie it should be 3.
forth: The 3 "Rims" has Weapons, but most of them are totaly uneffective and the Military is so ineffective too, that America, if this where real, must be sink to the bottom in Shame!!
And the End...
You must see it to believe it.
For your Picture: Looks cool, but more like a second Liner, not a Front Liner. Its not quick and agile enough for this type of Enemys.
But, if the Pilots are good, i would feel me better to have such a BFG in my back as one incompetent General in a save Bunker with his Thumb over a red Button for a Nuclear Bomb.

Ah, yes, I had heard of that film. That is also the reason why this isn't called Atlantic Rim.
And yes indeed, this fellow was very much not meant to be a frontline warriors. I did come very close to attaching some bayonets to its cannons, but generally it is supposed to take the creature down before it reaches it. Because, as it turns out, fisticuffs with 4 megaton creature is actually a terrible idea.

You are not familiar with German engineering, I see!
