The mask was returned!!!!! Very swiftly at that. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/11480985/ And ... Just so much loss of faith I have. We were using them for a dance. which the whole show was thrown off. We instead just painted our faces. It was just... depressing.
At first I thought oh someone must have just picked it up to show someone and forgot to put it back where it was so we looked around. and looked. and looked some more. and then told more and more people to look for it until the whole place was looking for it. It was gone.
There are strong hunches on shifty people at the show. But there's only so much one can do. I only hope said people will come forward after they realize now that they won't be able to wear this mask anywhere without someone catching them.
I honestly don't believe it will be found as these things never really do. Just trying because that's all one can do.
We'll see if we succeed.
I have reported the theft to the police dept.
Please don't note me about this. unless of course you see the mask somewhere. I have a lot of notes to keep relatively organized :C but I appreciate all help and concern. Just writing all ideas here will be fine <3

Some people are just drugged out or are so screwed in the head that they, like you said. just steal something because they can. With the hunch I have of who stole it. They would have stolen it just because they like goth black cats. and having a mask of one would be sick. But god forbid buying anything. why buy when you're crafty enough to steal right? obviously she accomplished her mission smoothly. But now I'm just never going to trust anything again.
Coming back to this-- If you do happen to have a vague idea of whom it may be, maybe this will work out in your favor in the end; Halloween is going to be fast approaching, and maybe they'd have assumed that by then, folks would have stopped searching for the head and will proudly flaunt their wrongdoing around like they're some bigshot. Halloween is completely irresistible for folks, especially since it gives everyone the chance to show off their costumes, even if it's not theirs.
I'm glad you could laugh at that, hon, because I did, I'm so sorry that happened, I really am, that's just...I'd be so mad I'd be sick to my stomach if someone stole something i poured my soul and heart into. Something I've made means a bit more to me than something i would have bought. :(
that is sad. here is an idea that might make the masks a little more theft proof. (i don't know if this exists, but heck it might) maybe put some sort of wireless transmitter in the heads, or camera, and it would connect to near by open wireless net works. you could make it so that the only way to remove it is to disassemble the whole head. this could also help your costumers as well, for instance if there head is stolen could track it down and alert the police and have it back in safe hand. i don't know how likely that is, but its worth a shot.

There's actually a thing that's in the works called "tile". Its a device that partners with an app for iOS. It's typically for finding your keys and things on a local basis ( like a 50-100ft radius), but if something with tile attatched gets stolen, other idevices with tile can pick it up and will report its location, which you can view through your little account thing. Just some food for thought. If it gets big enough it could help with issues like these^^.

It's expensive, but you could potentially try something like this and just put it with any fursuits you take to potentially unsafe areas.

A curse of bloody explosive diarrhea (with shrapnel) upon whomever stole this. At the worst possible time, too. Like, in white pants, during a job interview, or an audience with the Pope...somewhere that there's a TV crew there broadcasting live, and people record it and upload it to YouTube, where it will be downloaded, remixed, looped, set to Yakety Sax and take off like the biggest and most lasting meme since Diet Coke and Mentos (but erupting from a different orifice), humiliating this person for all eternity in excruciating 1080p detail.

I have been seeing more and more thievery upon this fandom lately. The thing that gets me is it is not furries, it is Scene Kids that mess around with another persons work, doing stupid things with it, and then ditching it in a alleyway or on a bus.

Disgusting. I had $20 stolen from me at the hair salon last week and it seriously ruined my day. It wasn't so much the money but the fact that you have to constantly question people's honesty in a place that you think should be safe that is most disturbing. Thieves piss me off. I really hope someone notices a realistic cat head on Craigslist or where ever the hell they plan on taking it. How could someone even be able to enjoy such an usual item without worrying about people recognizing it? Ah that is infuriating.
This, literally made me sick when I saw Scars post this earlier today. I will be at several cons the next few months. (Furlaxation, FurFright, Magfest, Katsucon) and will keep my eyes open. Your work is easy to spot so if its out where I can see it, I WILL see it. I am also staff at two of those cons so I can actually get some info for you if its seen.
Aw dang, that sucks! :C the only other suit head I know of that was stolen was the one made by fenrir. It's hard to tell with this situation whether someone who stole it was or wasn't a fur. This is sad to see. I hope you can get your head back. There's potential upsides and downsides to whether it was a fur or not. A fur would usually realize that they can never actually wear the suit in public without getting caught, but some may not know or some may still attempt to steal just to HAVE it or something. Whereas a non-fur wouldn't be aware of this and wear it anyway or they stole it just to mess around, then throw it out. It's really sad though because you'll never know, and fursuits are hard to track down.

I hope whoever took it realizes they made a mistake or maybe it was a misunderstanding(like a little kid took it and lied saying someone gave it to him or something, you never know it could happen lol) and they'll bring it back, hopefully!! If you can, post flyers up on the doors to stores and stuff so that people who go there see it, in case they might recognize it.
And of course keep an eye on Furbuy, craigslist, and any other furry or non-furry site someone could potentially sell the head on.

I'm not sure how I can help, but I will share this in my fb group. I do hope it finds its way back to you, even if broken at least then you'll have closer. Most don't think about it but art takes time and when you give something so much of your time you give it part of yourself. I will keep my eyes peeled.
Is it just me or am I the only one getting weird feeling bout the fact that the fursuit heads being stolen are all in the norther Washington area. I think its the same person possibly that stole the head from lynnwood a while back? Id consider you and

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I have to wonder if the thief knew what a colossal bastard they were being, or if they're just immensely selfish. Hopefully it's the former, and the guilt will force them to turn themselves, and the mask, in.
Either way, for what it's worth, I've given you a signal boost too. I'll keep my fingers crossed that this can be resolved quickly and cleanly.

It seems incredibly suspicious that someone could steal an item that large before your show and no-one had seen them walk out with it (or hide it somewhere).
Im hoping that there is some camera set up somewhere? It might be worth getting in contact with any local business to see if their camera's caught anything. I really hope it turns up as its absolutely beautiful.

On the down side: It's been stolen and you had to give a different act than what you wanted ( having to change your costume does make it a different kind of act experience)
On the up side: The stolen mask is easily identifiable because it looks amazing.
On the really odd up side: Maybe this means that you work is just that fantastic that people feel the need to steal it instead of buy it.

Even if there is no CCTV inside the building (which these days is rare) then wouldn't there be some outside? Street CCTV or the CCTV of another building around? Maybe there isn't where you are, but in Britain there is certainly very few spots that do not have cameras on them anymore (because of crime levels and such) in any built-up area.
Also, I'd very much say about speaking to the police, as other people have suggested. Alright, so they might not find anything, but at least you tried that option? Also, if you have reasonable suspicion, they are the ones that could get the power to search that person's house providing that you can give reasons that that person would commit the offence. It might also help to mention the monetrary worth to them - if they assume it's only worth a couple of bucks, then they'll be a bit more concerned when you tell them the true cost of reselling such an item.
Even if there is not reasonable suspicion, they would be able to check cameras and such in the area much more effectively than you most likely (sad fact but true), hence why they are you best port of call. There are some low people out there. When Pandaguy passed away someone swiped a few of his suits out from under his mother's nose within 24 hours of his death. (That story had a happy ending, they were recovered). I've pasted and posted your journal info and I hope it has similar results.

I hope you find your head safe and sound, I really do. It's just so sad that people really have no respect for art. One time I drew a piece, and I was so proud of it. Almost done coloring it i step away from the table(at work in the break room) I come back to my piece with blue pen scribbled on it. They drew a mustache and wrote their names. All I could do was sob.

CCTV/Street CCTV and Police need to be inoled .There could be witnesses or workers /security guards that where around the building at the time but where un aware of it being yours? .If you have suspects of who took it ,get the police to check their home (but I guess that'd only work if you knew their full name >.< )

The problem with fursuits is they are one of a kind items. Each fursuit is made to fit each client's satisfactions and needs. So stamping with a S/N does not work for items like this.
Though it may be a good idea to put some identifier on it (signature, number, etc.) to identify it as YOURS and no one else's. Ouo If this was what you were going at? :3

You know its sort of late but if you somehow get to the local news station you may be able to tell them its worth and see if you can get some sort of look out for it? It probably depends on the local area you would post, but that might even be enough to scare someone into returning it.
There are so many pennies in your bucket, my offering another .02 ain't going to do shit. I hope that the person/s who took the mask step forward, or at least deliver it anonymously before they have cops at their doors asking questions. The whole thing just makes me livid as hell. LIVID.
