He raised his own binoculars and looked. “Looks like rocks,” he yelled up at the lookout.
“Well, there’s rocks there,” the man said, “but that ain’t all.”
“Well? What?”
“Looks like a body.”
Ranua lowered the binoculars and thought for a moment. “Can you – can you see if it’s still alive?”
“Not from here,” the man called back.
From 2011, here is my story A Game of Foxes and Badgers, part of the Spontoon Island universe. It tells the story of a wirehair terrier from Spontoon named Ranua Milikonu, who has become part of Rain Island's military intelligence service.
Due to a problem, the story has never made it to the Spontoon website, so this is its first exposure. Enjoy!
