After capturing Rift and taking him to the macro station he decided to interogate the supposed criminal, not getting the info out of Rift he decided maybe if he was wearing less the shep would be more cooperative, but it seemed the shepherd was possibly hiding something, he keeps saying he is innocent but Gareth got the report of a "suspicous shepherd with markings" this HAD to be him.
