Hey everyone, one of the two paintings mentioned in the recent journal.
This one was commissioned by
redhunter337 and it was a very pleasant mix of fun and challenge to get it done. Learned quite a few things here and there on how to tackle certain things, which will certainly help in the future.
Enjoy!
If you want a little bit of story to go with it, then here you go:
The duo were walking along the shore, enjoying the sun on there scales the sand in between there scaly toes and the cool wind coming off the sea. Then suddenly the wind shifted and the water started to recede back for what seemed like miles revealing the smooth sandy sea bed, the dragon knew what was coming and immediately set off for the enormous cliffs that were behind them. They reached the cliffs and found a stable stair case leading to a large city along the cliffs just as the titanic wall of water started to form off the coast.
The dragon hurried his pace and found high ground on the highest part of the city that also gave him the perfect view of the wave. When he laid eyes on that wave he didn't feel any fear just respect and awe as they watched the wave crash against the pillars and barrel towards the city.

That's one of those "Well fuck..." moments. You know what's coming and you know you can't escape it, so there's no point in being afraid of it.
I got the feeling of the picture right away. Your heart sinks because you know what's coming. Not often I see images that can portray atmospheres that well.
Awesome job Nomax. ^.=.^

Thank you very much, yeah i played around with more opaque textures this time around , seems to work perfectly for things like houses since they have those convenient flat surfaces :P
Haven't done many paintings that require perspective, and usually i was able to fudge it, since it was only a very minor part that nobody would notice if it wouldn't quite 100% match up. Was kinda neat to do something that required a bit of a more through perspective treatment!
