As I present my first "EFF" ("Extraordinarily Fat Furries") comic gag of 2014, I'd decided to look back at the past year, by having one such corpulent character sing his praises to 2013, and to the 'fad foods' that stood out (just as much as his big belly stood out, after eating lots of them).
In this case, I'd chosen 'Reggieburr', the ursine 'fursona' of
ArtfulReggie, who can just barely bring the microphone up to his mouth - with his belly enveloping the stand beneath it!
As for the song 'Reggieburr' renders, it's a parody of the popular Frank Sinatra opus "(When I Was Seventeen) It Was A Very Good Year". The new satirical song lyrics were partially inspired by the many song parodies I used to see in back issues of "MAD Magazine". (One particular tune that comes to mind was "Stout-Bellied Men" - set to the song "Stouthearted Men". It only seeming fitting - or fattening - to come up with more tunes to accommodate 'fat furries', instead of humans.)
If you like this strip, let me know, and I'll consider making more music with other 'fat furry' characters, belting out song parodies, in future "EFF" strips; I have tons of tunes to offer to many more massive mammals!
(FOOTNOTE: I'm taking certain liberties with the satirical lyrics. For example, when 'Reggieburr' refers to the years Twenty-One-Three and Twenty-One-Four, I mean [of course] 2013 and 2014, and not 2103 and 2104. He could've sang the years Twenty-Thirteen and Twenty Fourteen [which has the same meter to the song], but I couldn't think of anything that rhymes with Thirteen or Fourteen. So please, grant me a little 'poetic license'! - RC)
