The sounds of light footsteps bounced off of the walls of the darkened alley softly. The night air was cold and biting as the people walked this way and that. Everyone was heading to their own destinations. Everyone was separate. Some of these people were heading to the same destinations, but for the most part everyone was minding their own business as they went about their way. No one noticed a pair of even lighter footsteps moving faster than everyone else’s footsteps. A pair of female feral cats moved quickly through the crowd of people walking down the street; unnoticed as they hurried through. A pair of louder footsteps was right behind them though. Gasps and shouts of surprise and alarm followed these louder footsteps as a pair of anthro wolves wearing hazmat style suits pushed their way through the crowd in pursuit of the felines. The feral pair rushed into an intersection and barely avoided the passing cars. Loud honks sounded as they moved into and out of the headlights of the speeding vehicles. The wolf pair, a male and female stopped in their tracks at the crosswalk, unable to safely continue the chase.
Quickly the felines ducked into an alley and took cover behind a trashcan; panting lightly. They huddled close as the rushing footsteps of their pursuers continued on past the alley. Their breathing slowed as they stood still, listening to the soft footsteps as they returned to the normal footsteps of the city. One of the cat’s was mostly white, with black spots on her shoulders, hips and feet. Smaller blue spots were clustered around these bigger black spots as well near bands of black fur around her wrists and ankles. She had ice blue eyes and black ears and a black tail as well. The other cat had White and red fur. Her tail was striped like a raccoons red and darker red. She had burning amber eyes, and fiery orange stripes on her shoulders and hips as well. Her paws were red with a dark red middle digit on her front paws and orange toes on her hind paws. The two females looked at each other as they sighed softly. “What do we do Rei?” asked the blue eyed cat worriedly. “I…I don’t know Mei. I didn’t know there would be hunters here on the mortal plane. We need to figure a way back to the spirit world. We’re sitting ducks here.” said the amber eyed feline in reply. “I…I could always call for…” “I don’t know if the song would be a good idea here Mei. We already know that those hunters are on our tails. What if more hear you?” asked Rei quickly. “I don’t see any other options here Rei. We’re lost here without any allies, or a guide to a portal we’ll be caught anyway sooner or later.” said Mei quickly, tears in her eyes. Rei stared at her friend as the droplets fell from her blue orbs, the droplets froze instantly as they fell and hit the ground as perfect tear shaped crystals. “Don’t cry. You know that’s part of the reason they’re after us. *Sigh* Alright sing the song. I hope it works.” said Rei dismissively, still looking around. Mei smiled at her friend. She knew that it was a risky move. But they didn’t have much of a choice in the situation. She closed her eyes and faced the sky as a loud mew left her mouth. The sound began to trill harmonically as it spread through the area. The sound bounced around through the alleys, past the people walking this way and that. They continued on through the sound waves, unable to hear its melodious call.
The next few moments passed agonizingly slowly as the pair stayed where they were. They listened intently to the sounds around them. Both hoped in near desperation that they would hear a return song; something to let them know that their cry for help was heard. They gasped lightly as the sound of footsteps entered the alley. Peering around the corner both of their faces paled as they came to see one of the wolves that was chasing them before, the male. “Come on Mei. Let’s run.” said Rei as they both turned to the other end of the alley, only to come to face the female wolf approaching them from the opposite direction. “Thought you had gotten away from us did you? No such luck there kitty cats. It was only a matter of time until you tried to call for help, and we would find you again.” said the male approaching from their front; showing them a device tuned to the call Mei made a few moments ago. “They were waiting for us to…Why you!” shouted Rei as she sprang into action, flames spewed from her mouth at the male quickly. The wolf covered his face, as the short burst flowed over him, but lowered his hands when it stopped, he completely unharmed. Rei stuttered softly, her flames had been utterly ineffective against him. “Nice try. These suits have been treated to withstand extreme heat and cold. More than the two of you can muster in your present states. You may be dumb animals, but you’re at least intelligent enough to know that you’re outmatched here. You may as well come quietly and make this easier on yourselves.” said the female as she produced a small device. Placing it on the ground he pressed a button on it, it growing and unfolding into a cage. The male did the same, producing a cage quickly. “What do we do Rei?” asked Mei afraid, standing back to back with her friend. “Do you have to ask? We go down fighting. Go for their heads!” said the fire breather as an ember escaped through her grinning teeth. Hearing this, the male wolf reached for a gun in a holster on his side. Rei dashed forward as he brought the firearm up, but just before the male could fire; a small bolt of lightning struck the weapon, melting the metal and stopping Rei in her tracks. Everyone looked up to see a blue and yellow furred male husky standing on the rooftop overlooking the alley. He let out a howl as he leapt down in between the two, growling lightly. “Who are you?” asked Rei confused. “You called for help. I’m responding. Name’s Surge.” said the husky quickly. “Surge?” asked both Mei and Rei together, looking at one another surprised at this new turn of events.
“From your look and your ability I would assume you’re a Surger. Come to aid the Blazer and Froster here?” asked the male wolf amused. “Can’t turn my back on my own kind. I’ve known you guys were around, hunting spirits so I stuck around this area just in case.” explained Surge. “Noble. But you must know that our suits will protect us from even your shocks in this form. You elementals think you’re so mighty. You have so much pride. I want to see what happens to that pride when you are reminded that you are only another dumb feral to those who know your weaknesses. Your biggest one being that you are at your weak when you are cut off from your element.” said the wolf as he and the female pulled the hoods of their suits over their heads, protecting them as well. “Sounds like you both have thought this completely through. Attacking elemental spirits while they are cut off from their elements must make you feel smart. I say it should make you feel cowardly. But I’ll fix that. I wonder if you came prepared to fight a fully powered elemental.” said Surge in response, a smirk crossing his muzzle quickly. “What are you talking about Surger? There’s no storm anywhere near here. You have no way to get in contact with your element just like they don’t.” said the female wolf confused. “Oh that’s where you’re wrong. I’m always in contact with my element. Let me show you.” said Surge as he sat down, the lightning shaped pendant on the necklace around his neck swinging to a stop on his chest. Sparks began to flow around it as the canine reached up and rubbed it softly. A bolt of lightning burst out of the pendant and flowed around the blue and yellow furred canine quickly. He growling as his body began to change. The Surger howled loudly as he assumed his true form, an anthro form. His purple eyes overflowed with electricity as he turned to face the two wolves, motioning for Mei and Rei to move aside behind him. “That’s not possible. You shouldn’t have been able to transform.” said the male wolf confused. “What do we do? We’re not equipped to handle a fully powered Surger.” said the female alarmed. “Fall back for now. Aright Surger. You win this time. But know that we’ll be back. And next time we will be prepared for you as well.” said the male as he and his companion turned to exit, taking their cages with them.
All was quiet as Mei and Rei breathed sighs of relief. “So you heard Mei’s call for help. Why didn’t you respond?” asked Rei, still a little shaken from the encounter. “I knew those two were around. If someone was calling for help then they might have been involved. I didn’t want to tip them off that I was here too.” replied Surge seriously. “I see.” replied Rei with a smirk. “I take it you both need help finding a spirit portal?” asked Surge. “Yes. Our time ran out on our shifted forms and we couldn’t blend in with the mortals anymore. But before we could find a portal, those two hunters were chasing us. I’m glad you were here to help.” replied Mei relieved. “Not a problem. Come on. I’ll get you somewhere safe. A friend of mine lives in the area. He owes me a favor. I don’t think he would mind helping you both.” said Surge as he picked the two felines up and leapt between the walls of the alley to the rooftops.
“How did you do that? Transform without being in contact with your element I mean?” asked Mei impressed as she stared at Surge’s anthro form. “The necklace I wear is enchanted to be able to hold the charge of one bolt of lightning. I can use it to change at a moment’s notice as long as it’s charged.” replied Surge. “I’ve never heard of an enchantment like that.” replied Rei, her eyebrow raised curiously. “That’s because normally there isn’t one. The enchantment was written by my friend, a reality writer named Sly. He’s also the person I’m taking you both to see right now. He should be able to help you both out.” said Surge as he leapt again from another rooftop. Mei sighed relieved. When she called for help, she doubted that anyone would hear her. Let alone be able to assist them like this. “My name is Mei. This is Rei. We are eternally grateful for your assistance Surge.” she said solemnly, nuzzling against him softly. “Y-Yeah. Thanks for the save. N-Not that I wouldn’t have been able to get us out of there myself.” replied Rei seriously but a little embarrassed. Surge only laughed lightly at their attitudes. They were as different as fire and ice; which suited their elements well. “It’s not a problem. Happy to do it.” he replied as he continued.
Well here we have the intro for my new elemental girls Mei and Rei. Like Surge, they are stuck in a feral form until they can come into contact with their element which as you have probably guessed is Ice for Mei and Fire for Rei. Thought this would be a good way to intro them.

Sorry. I don't remember ever striking a match successfully as I don't handle them much. I thought whatever coating on the match would prevent it from being lit by putting it over fire. As for the first one, remember she's a quadruped. How would she strike the match if she couldn't hold it with her hands?
The coating on them is very flammable as was as good at making a spark. As for holding it she could probably hold it between her toes or in her mouth, but the simplest method would would be to light it with her powers. The question is how much fire does she need to transform. The same question could be asked of surge and mei. How much electricity does he need? Could he transform by draining a AA battery? If she got a ice cube is that all it takes?
I see. As for what they need to transform, they need to come into direct contact with their element. Meaning lightning for Surge, (A battery isn't going to provide enough current.) Fire for Rei, and Ice for Mei. Now they originally come from the spirit world, meaning that they actually need the spirit world versions of these elements. Mortal world elements will work, (I.E. Lightning, Fire from a match, or an Ice cube) but they will not stay transformed for anywhere near as long as if they came into contact with Spirit World elements.
