Laiken is the Moofie Tribe's God of Water
The Moon Goddess, Janali had once kept Laiken as her pet. Orginally a mindless dragon hatchling, he was given thought and a fraction of Janali's power. She gave up her control of water to him. Some believe he was created as a guardian for her against Ashkenaz the God of Fire, since Janali couldn't kill Ashkenaz herself without the other Gods and Goddesses seeking vengeance. But Laiken could not bring himself to kill Ashkenaz either and Janali was captured and imprisioned upon the moon.
Followers of Laiken are gentle, sensitive, loyal, compassionate, merciful, and have a strong memory. They are soft spoken and are fond of peace. They are a bit stubborn and not very determined.
The Moofie are a tribe of canine creatures that are very much connected with nature and can possess a variety of abilities given to them by their masks when they mature. Most are born tricksters but not typically do they care to see anyone hurt.
They can be found in a wide range of shades; blonds, creams, greys, browns, blacks, reds, but the rarest is full white. The fur is thick, and very fluffy. Females tend to have the sleeker, softer fur than the males.
Moofie are monogamous, meaning they will only mate once. Upon the death of one, the other will soon follow. A Moofie can love either the opposite or the same gender as itself. Maturity is reached at 10 years old. Females have one litter a year and have about 3 moofs. Living a maximum of 200 years, a female can have up to 570 moofs in their lifetime. Unfortunately, only maybe 50 will survive to reach maturity due to predators, illness, starvation, and fierce sibling rivalry.
They create their own masks when they reach maturity. The designs are all unique to their wearer, ranging from simple to very complex, but all cover the eyes. Femals always have a gem placed somewhere upon the mask. When a Moofie makes their mask, they go into the forest and sit quietly alone, awaiting a spirit to guide them to the chosen tree and in what to paint. The coming of age ceremony is held in the den of the Alpha partnership once a year. During which the newly masked Moofie is brought before the tribe's shaman who shares which God or Goddess they are to follow. Visible with the color and shape of the ear piercing. The ceremony is suppose to represent not only the youngster’s maturity but also the renewal and re strengthening of all the masks together. They enjoy a well gathered feast of kill as well as singing and dancing. A Moofie after the coming of age ceremony will make sure that nothing will ever see their eyes. For the spirits will strip them of their power and mind, cursing the Moofie to be reduced to a thoughtless beast that knows nothing but killing.
Although talented fighters, most Moofies would much rather tease the enemy than strike.
