Athanasia the phoenix is first encountered while she's being harassed by some some panther taurs. Your saving her is repaid in kind later, but at a cost to her. The fiery bird, her flames nearly snuffed out by her battle with the snowy Reindeer, is forced back into an egg, but is too drained to re-hatch without your assistance. Here she is, restored anew and better than before at the new volcanic home you found for her.

I'm back from Furnal Equinox 2014 with another batch of sketchbook art, including more artwork pertaining to Flexible Survival. For those unaware, it is an adult TF-based 'survival' game and I do a lot of writing for the single-player version. It is supported by donations for which the writer/coders will add desired content to the game. In thanks for this, I like to get artwork of my creations and I've gotten another big batch of them this time and I'll be posting them over the next several days.

Athanasia (meaning immortality) originated as one of those donations, and has grown far beyond my expectations thanks to the continued support of fans. She has an interesting storyline that continues to progress after her rebirth as she learns more about her newest incarnation and her new desires now that she's become female. A recent storyline addition's resulted in her gaining a companion, Newt the Salamander girl.

This lovely piece was done by Sandy Schreiber, who was one of the GoH's of this year's Furnal Equinox. As always, the artwork from her is excellent and her skill at doing and phoenixes has made her the perfect choice to draw this magical avian. Given how well it turned out, I felt it was the best choice to lead off this set of posts.
