I was looking at a similar cloak, may I ask the type of velvet you used and how many yards? I'm just not sure how much I would need to order.

Sure! It's actually a "silky solids" from Joann Fabrics. I used about 7 yards of the silk and the same for the inner lining. I forget the fabric name I used for the lining but it is a very thin breathable cloth, not to stiff but easy to work with. I then ordered faux fur for the trimming from ebay, and got the clasps on Etsy. The pattern can be found at Joann's and is Simplicity Costumes # 9887 D. I made the XL size because I wanted it to drape over the butt of the horse when I ride in for my wedding day :)

:D Thank you so much!!! I'm really happy with it! I'll be making a black one for Tom soon, probably this weekend if I can. I'm really excited! The hardest part will be my wedding dress which I also plan on making. I wanted our wedding to be unique and for our cloths to be one of a kind and re-usable for larps etc... I wanted to have something no one else had to make it more special and even more special still was to make it myself :) Tom is making his own armor and may or may not be wearing platemaille for the wedding. I'm pretty excited! The dress is going to be MAD HARD but I'm going to do my best. Thanks for the compliments!

Guess what... it doesn't have to be perfect like a thousand other dresses that were mass produced for David's Bridal... As long as your heart is in it, THAT is what shows and over powers any imperfections, if any.
