Due to unforseen circumstances and overwhelming demand, I will be extending the MYO contest for 24 hours. This means that the contest now ends at midnight EST on Monday night, 4/21/14.

Unfortunately my family's Easter celebration is beginning much earlier than I anticipated, and I will not be here to answer questions until tonight. Rather than leave everyone in the lurch, and since many people just found out about the contest yesterday, I will provide this 24-hour pad for your peace of mind as well as mine. :)

Officially announcing the Make Your Own Tufty Trex Contest!

This contest opens on April 1st, 2014 and will close on April 20, 2014.

In this contest you can design your very own Tufty Trex! All that is needed to enter is a colored drawing of your tufty design, posted here on this deviation. Drawing skill is secondary to the appeal of the design itself.

The top five designs will have their tufties placed on the base and made official. Depending on the number of entries, the number of winners will increase~!

Everyone that enters is also eligible to keep their design and have it placed on the base for a fee of $10 via paypal. Customs are usually $15-20 depending on complexity, so this is a good way to get what you want for less than the price of a premade tufty ($11).

Species Info

Tufted Trexes are a species of theropod dinosaur that originated in the cold, snowy tundra of the far north, which is why they’re covered in insulating fluff! The tufts on their head are not true ears but bunches of feathers that they can move around like ears to better collect sound. They are large, intelligent, carnivorous predatory animals that tend to travel in packs in the wild, though they are known to be loners as well. Some of them have been tamed and bred to be a wide variety of colors, builds and temperaments. Like big cats, they have an unpredictable prey drive and their handlers have to be careful around them—wild tufties should absolutely never be approached. However, the tamed and domesticated breeds can be ridden by the daring.

Typical Traits
- A single tail, from short to super-long, with any sort of hairstyle, OR no tail. See here, excluding the bottom row.
- Two head tufts in any style (their "ears"). Very short/very long allowed.
- Any style of fluff on the limbs/head, very short fluff or super long fluff.
- Three major toes on each hindfoot, with a dewclaw as the fourth toe.
- Two very short forelimbs with two to three "fingers" on each.
- Any patterns/markings/colors are allowed.

Unusual Traits
Anything on this list will bring your entry under more careful scrutiny. These traits are allowed to be used, but are a bit more uncommon than those in the list above.

- Multiple tails.
- A single tail split into multiple ends. See the bottom row on this image.
- Horns/antlers or spikes placed anywhere on the body.
- Naked/no fluff.
- Scales, placed anywhere on the body.

Verboten
These traits are not allowed on any entry.

- Wings or any other additional limbs, eyes, etc.
- More than two head tufts/ears.
- Zero head tufts/ears (even naked tufties have small bumps where the feathers would grow!).
