Audio Impression: Summer Vacation of the Living Dead, Chapte
After reading "Summer Vacation of the Living Dead" by Alex Reynard, I've had a few thoughts in mind about what this would sound like.
I'm trying to create in sound the scene at the very beginning of Chapter 47 ( http://www.furaffinity.net/view/590037/ ), where a bizarre chase begins. Alex said that he liked this version of "25 Miles", so I started working from there.
This is an EXTREMELY rough draft of only the beginning. I'm not completely happy with it, but this is where I had to stop for today.
All sound bytes used in this audio clip were collected from videos on YouTube. Credit for the original recordings belongs to them, I only claim credit for putting them all together.

HOLY FUUUCK!!! :D
I _really_ like that! The way you worked the train whistle into the li'l crescendo there was BRAIN-BLOWINGLY PERFECT!! When I listened to it on headphones, that bit sent shivers up my spine. Literally!
And did you fiddle with the train audio any? It sounds a bit interestingly distorted.

If there's any distortion to the sound, it probably came from converting the from .flv to .wav format.
To make the engine sounds: I started with the revving locomotive, and trimmed it slightly for length. From another video clip of a passing train, I found a particular rattling car that, when looped, sounded almost like mechanical breathing. As the sequence progressed, I shortened the loop, as if it was breathing faster.
Now that I listen again, I think the locomotive engine sound cuts out too soon. I had another horn laid into the mix, and it seems to have gotten lost when I mixed down. Might need to adjust the mix a little; just about everything came close to clipping!
Like I said, this is a VERY rough draft. Next to add: A voice track. "Chase me, Stupid."

There's plenty more sounds to choose from. A train can be a complete symphony in and of itself.
I plan to work out the whole chase scene, not just the song. Only one voice is really needed, that of Max. I'll try my voice; not sure how to go about auditioning people via FurAffinity.

Bad news about this work: I"m going to have to start over. Glad I have this much to refer to.
Shortly after FurAffinity went down, the computer I worked on this with crapped out. I was able to recover the source files, but not the program needed to construct all this.
So, different program, different computer, and start over.
I noticed something else after re-reading that chapter of the story - I need to re-think quite a bit of the script for this audio play, so it's going to be very different from this draft!

Yipes; I just now noticed this post when I sent a fellow SVOTLD fan to this link!
And it's totally okay; I have always been patient when it comes to people doing stuff like this. I know that art can take time, and rushing it often sours it. I know the end product will kick tons of ass. ^__^
