Ah... The markings on the center blade was a concept I borrowed from various Video Game References, Too Human, Diablo II... The wolf I've developed is a Fighter before he became a magi... and reaching his body's physical limit, I wanted to create a character that found a way to improve outside his physical boundaries.
So he supplements his craft with magic through the use of rune words in his weapons and armor.

Aye the ability to soul vore comes naturally to him, his blade however is only something that helps him focus his spell casting, there was a segment in the story where he fights with a broken Catalyst (Name of his weapon.) proving to another fighter that it's not the weapon that makes the warrior.
Typically it's easier to consume the spirit from an already dead, however if he wants to take out of someone that is living the ethereal grasp has a much harder time taking it out of the body.
Usually if he must feed off of the still living he would have to kill them in order to reap the spirit, then again he has been known to vore flesh and bone when he was desperate for sustenance.
And yes, his equipment doesn't grant him powers... the only really make already more skills effective.

Aye, in order to sustain himself... to prevent him from turning into a feral shadow... he must feast upon souls of the fallen, a most heinous act to spiritual law... some would argue worst than murder.
but yes even though souls harbor the quintessence that is needed... some of it is contained in living bodies, much like how beings are able to draw on the magical source known as Mana... that quality is the reason for why the wolf would devour flesh and bone... and as for hard and soft vore... well he is capable of both.

Aye perhaps through the powers of Clairvoyance could give him that edge to replace what his loss of sight gave him... might also play into a person that uses his wit to solve his problems instead of brute force... hence why I was thinking he could tell how he would make his spells work... Psionics per say.
X3 ah thanks, most people criticize the design of it being "Hard" to draw, or looks like a certain fierce deity's sword.
But meh, I thought the designs of it look pretty awesome in looks... it was either that or I had another design having the blade being a bunch of loosely connected crystals, aaaand well ><; soul calibur III mostly beat me to that idea.

Y'know I feel your pain there... I wanted to get to that too... X3 The trick is to simply reorganize the existing concept to make it original. You could still make that crystal sword you just have to rearrange the crystal formation, make it a different color, changed the way it manifests, things like that. You could make it your own thing simply by drawing inspiration from things.
Though then again for a expansion it did add a lot of content... and you got to see some characters that got into DAII. (Upped the level cap and added two more specializations to each Warrior, Rogue, Mage. (Arcane Warrior/Battle Mage/Blood Mage FTW)
Though yeah I was expecting awakening to be as huge as a NWN expansion or campaign, but meh... it was a good 13 hours if you want to get everything and do everything, and even then you're treated with a Fallout-esque ending where you see how you've effected history.
