Endless Realms bestiary - Valenti, Gatekeeper
Bestiary artwork for Endless Realms, a D&D-like "pen and paper" fantasy RPG I'm working for.

This one originally started off as a "celestial kitsune", basically, but when I asked the art director if she meant celestial as in "angelic/good" or "celestial" as in "celestial bodies", she told me she had meant the former, but was intrigued by the latter :b So I got permission to see what kind of original "star fox" I could come up with :)

By the way, do you know the storyline about Valenti?
I imagine that s/he would be the one who could guide you to the other worlds(or Realms, as they could be called), but you'd need to convince him/her that it's for a good purpose rather than for something selfish.
(by the way, I'm not sure of Valenti's gender or lack of such, so the pronouns got a little weird there)

*chuckles* It's alright. I don't think it's so much a case of this being a single named individual, but rather an example of the Valenti race/species. It's perfectly possible that they are genderless (seem like they rather transcend physical reality, and probably reproduce magically or something, or there are a set amount of them for however many worlds/realms there are and are replaced as they die/are killed/leave for their final resting place).
As for the storyline, no, I don't specifically know, but since this creature is a bit more one of my own creations than the art director's, I'm sure if I had any particularly neat input to offer I would be permitted to do so.

*nods* Yeah. Seems a bit... transcendant/OP for a player character, although could maybe be a fun gimmick campaign, where you play as Valenti trying to manage all the realms and handle all the high-level PCs coming through and interplanar politics :V Haha.
But yeah, they strike me as much more of a potential guide, boss or questgiver-type NPC.

Quest giver in the normal campaign, either for character-class promotions or story quest. Boss campaign: "Insurrection." You're overthrowing the entire political order, possibly as a necromancer. Both of these must be totally epic. PC Campaign: "Camp." Anti-climactic and totally silly. Possibly with Monty Python cameos, like Brian of Nazareth. Or maybe something that people would want to play, I dunno.

Ok.
Definitely one of the most amazing creatures I have ever seen. Ever.
I could go on and on and on about how amazing this design is but it is late and I am quite tired. But again, so happy I fell upon your work. This is my favorite thus far, such creativity so elegantly displayed. What a beautiful creature.
