Merciera (Plural-Mercieras)
Looks:
-General: These are very short creatures (3-4 1/2 feet), and they commonly have thin body types (although other body types can pop up.) They are very fluffy around their ears, neck, wrists, and ankles. A merciera may shed during the warmer seasons, but they never loose their fluffy look.
Their diamond(s) are always one color. Diamonds are commonly found on the tip of their tail, but sometimes a Merciera has diamonds on the tip of their ears.
-Colors and Patterns: They tend to be one or two colors. During time of courtship, the males fur turns brilliant, multiple colors.
-head: They have very round heads. Their ears are over the top fluffy. They generally have small, cute noses, but size may vary. Their eyes are small, and usually seen as slits, but when you look at them closely, they're multi colored.
-Neck: Covered in fur. It starts at the chin, and can end anywhere from the shoulders to the middle of their chests.
-Arms: Very form fitting and fluffy until it gets to their wrists. The fluff then puffs out, and you can see their hands/paws. Their hands are always a color from the grey scale.
-Torso: They commonly have an underbelly marking. It's usually black or white, but not all Mercieras have an underbelly.
-Legs: Very form fitting and fluffy until it gets to their ankles. The fluff then puffs out, and you can see their feet/paws. Their feet are always a color from the grey scale.
-Tails: They are very thin and are always a color from the grey scale. The tail is used like an extra hand. They use it to dig, eat, hold things, etc.
Mercieras can have:
-Horns
-Antennaes
-Extra fluff
-Claws
-Bigger eyes
-Bigger paws-hands and feet (Rare)
-Up to three tails
-Chest gem- It will fall off after finding a partner. (Extremely rare)
Mercieras can NOT have (If they do have something from this list, they have been mutated, or are some form of hybrid.):
-Wings
-Multiple arms/legs
-Stomach mouths
-Fluffy tails
-tentacles
-Multiple sex organs-excluding those born a hermaphrodite. (i.e. six breasts, two penises)
Diet: Herbivores. They eat the leaves and berries of the Lioke plant (More about them later).
They will sometimes plant herbs and spices (recieved in a trade from other planetary life forms.). They use their food to make medicines as well.
Mating/courtship:
Males turn brilliant, multiple colors in hopes of attracting a mate. Once their mate chooses them, their diamond(s) falls off to show that they are with someone. Mercieras tend to have one partner for life, so they have to be picky.
If their partner dies, they either die with them, or choose to live a life of loneliness. If two Mecieras have lost their partner, they usually get together to comfort each other, but they can never feel the same feelings of love that they did for their first partner.
Reproduction:
They're like mammals, so a male will impregnate a female, then she will give birth. Thanks to their small size, it only takes four months for a baby to be born. Mercieras can have up to five children in their life time.
Life Views:
Mercieras are very family oriented species. Despite their generally serious nature, they are very loving and nurturing, and will make any creature feel welcomed in their home.
