Liera and Viestras are two simple magi sent on a simple quest. Liera is a red mage, versatile and proud of it to a fault, while Viestras is an up-and-coming black mage with hints of naiveté. Unfortunately, the nature of the pact that keeps them together is tenuous at best and threadbare at worst—and things only get more interesting when an old noodle incident is brought back into relevance.
So I’ve been binging on Final Fantasy lately. Like, a lot. So much so, in fact, that I couldn’t help drawing inspiration from it—if you can call it that—and a desire to write something quick and a little silly. Naturally, it got out of hand at full tilt, even in the span of around two weeks. The result is a tongue-in-cheek fantasy ditty in a style different from my norm with plenty of allusions, some obscure and most painfully plain, to its derivative sources (read: FF 1 and D&D). Oh, and there’s growth. That’s a thing too.
Despite its length it is nothing more than filler and a break from longer works while introducing a pair that I may work with again sometime.
Notation: this has been taken out of my scraps as of January 2015. Not sure why I thought to put it there to begin with!

Hahaha very sneaky, working the title of said story into Liera and Viestras' musings about their unusual party makeup. Twas a very silly and very growy-minded story towards the end, what with Liera embracing her new class with gusto. I take it you enjoyed your time with these two? :3
Heh, you darn bet I had fun. :V The two were saltier with each other than a pack of peanuts and I certainly had my share of it all, silly and self-aware though the story ended up being.
What I didn't like was limiting myself to a world that wasn't my own (even in name only), which is something I frankly doubt I'll do again. Characters such as Liera and Viestras may be relegated solely to artsy endeavors as a result.
