Maximus and Tangled belongs to Disney.
A new horse in town.
As he wondered what he could do to try and help improving his very damaged image, he suddenly heard the sounds of screams.
From the top of a very steep street he could see a horse drawing cart filled with people break free from the horse pulling it, and starting to rush down the road towards his direction.
While the people near him started to run away and scream, he decided to stay. This was his chance to prove that he could still provide the hero role, despite his extra weight. His plan on stopping it and saving the people on-board was to face away from it, wait until the right moment, and then put up his hind legs and send such great counter force to completely stop it. (But given his size he could just have used his huge horse rump as an airbag, and it would have probably done the same.)
He made himself ready, (Hoping his front legs would be able to hold the rest of his weight.) lifted his hind legs up, and was just about to kick the cart when something sent him away from spot.
It was another stallion, this one having a much more coal black coat and white mane in contrast to Maximus's white coat. That wasn't the only thing that this stallion had in contrast to him since he (unlike Maximus) was incredibly fit. He wasn't only free from any unnecessary body fat, he had also legs, chest, waist, neck and other parts of his body swelling with muscles. He looked just like Maximus had done back during his "glory days", if not even better.
It wasn't like Maximus had time to think about that, as while the tall dark stranger stallion was about to do what he had planned to do, Maximus was now instead doing the almost impossible task of "Walking around on only his front legs while the rest of his body is hanging in the air". He wanted to just lower his legs and make it stop, but the push from the other stallion had managed to distracted him so much that he now instead had his legs lifted up even more. So much in fact that even parts of his crazy wide back and spine was starting to bend over it self. It was a pretty amazing site for a horse his size to do that, but Maximus knew that if he stopped moving his legs it would cause him to immediately fall forward.
After getting rid of Maximus the mysterious stallion kept focus on saving the run away cart. He put himself into position, lifted his hind legs, and with the right amount of force managed to make the cart stop right in front of him. It didn't take long for the ones on-board the cart and the city folks watching it to start gathering around the stallion to congratulate him. Some royal guards that had not been quick enough to react to the situation was also very impressed by the bravery from this dark night coloured horse. "That was amazing what you just did brave horse." The captain of the group said, as he walked up to the horse, as if he was just like a human hero. "How can we ever thank you for all you done...?" The captain said before realizing he had forgot something very important. "What is your name?" He asked the horse, not expecting it to speak back but at least help give them a clue. The horse "answered" by pointing a hoof at a white lighting shaped form on one of his legs. "So you're called...White lighting?" The captain asked, and the stallion nicked his head to say yes. "Well, like I was about to say. How can we ever thanks you for saving the these lives..." The captain once again asked, only to be interrupted by a loud "CRASH" sound.
Looking over at what had caused it they all saw that it was Maximus, who had finally managed to lose his balance walking on only his front legs, and had fallen right into a big apple stand. Now he laid there on his back in the broken stand among apples that had fallen off and onto the ground, apples that had been crushed to applesauce, and apples that was still laying in one piece under him. (Almost making it look like he was laying on a bed of apples.) And to top it all of he had a big red juicy apple stuffed in his mouth, making him look like a stuffed pig on Christmas.
What was suppose to be his moment of glory had instead made him look like an even bigger joke then before. There was kids pointing and laughing at the fat horse laying among the apples, adult's who just tried to hold themselves from laughing at the sight, and soldiers that looked really ashamed over once having had Maximus as their own inspiration for becoming the best defenders for this kingdom. The soldiers instead gathered around this new heroic horse, and gave him all the praises and cheer's that they otherwise would have been giving to Maximus.
While everybody followed the black stallion with the white lighting mark away from the place, Maximus was left to get out of the apple stand on his own. After getting up and standing on all four again he could feel that he was still having that big read apple in between his teethes. He could just have spitted it out, but things where so bad now that he thought he might have the apple to cheer himself up a little. But he had barley chewed and swallowed it before he could hear the sound of something metallic hitting the cobblestone ground with a quick "Ding" sound. Maximus was about to look over at what it was when he could feel the answer becoming painfully clear. It was the metal lock that kept the belt on the saddle in place, and by eating that big apple it had made Maximus's waist so wide that it couldn't take anymore and just popped off.
Maximus could feel the saddle starting to slip of from one side, and before he could do anything it fell completely off and hit the ground. That was it. That was the last thing proving that he was a part of the royal defence's gone. There was now nothing that would make anyone looking at him believe that he used to be some kind of hero, but instead believing that he's just a fat white horse with nothing at all. He knew he could just have not eaten that apple to start with, but that's something he could have done countless times before getting to this state. If he didn't care about stopping then, then why stopping now?
Was this going to be the end of Maximus's heroic life?
