Wanted to draw this character for a while, and almost exclusively for the punny title. Granted, the title would have worked way better if I had stuck with the original posing and framing idea in the first place. Ended up spending over an hour, redrawing the pose over and over, being undecided. Evidently, was never good at doing a straight CG image without pre-sketching a pose first, and thus bland pose with a cheesy angle.
Mega Mewtwo Y is probably the best/worst prank I could ever imagined pulled by Nintendo. Release a character on April 1st, don't talk about it, looks like a Mewthree and goodness knows everyone was calling it that. The end result was, interesting, to say the least. I haven't been a particular fan of the speedster spoiler head, partially because of characters from Dragonball Z sort of ruining the look, and admittedly I get leery over more forms, especially when Deoxys always won that strategy advantage, and thus a place in my heart. Viral adaptation was what made it special, now it's less so since a lot of Pokemon can now just use a rock. On the plus side, it means more Mewtwo work. And being a fan of Mewtwo, have to like Y, right?
One has to draw it to sort of learn to appreciate it. The absolutely massive head part and other midget-like proportions don't really do it for me, even though I still tried to tone it down. Ended up doing the spoiler/headband/headpiece wrong. It's shorter, but the halo look worked better for me. Never figured out what the whole inverted breastbone and collagen bellybutton thing was, and couldn't quite figure out how to shade that either. Actual shading style is slightly different for me. More washy, a bit more colorful than my norm. Framing wise, I'm pleased with that but pose, proportions and so forth were lacking. And girly features, because female actress deserves the girl look. Was worth a try. Maybe I'll try more of this later or not.
