It's hard to not look at this. It stands out very well not only as a submission folder thumbnail but also when you look at it in its full glory.
There's so much win with this piece that I don't know where to start. But I'll try to hit some highlights.
The first is how well the background compliments the pose. You get a good clear view of AJ without anything taking away from her. Moreover the background isn't boring which is an extra plus.
Her pose reminds me a lot of Cera's after she hatched in the original The Land Before Time. She does this particular pose a lot in the first movie so mentally picturing AJ sticking out her tongue, hunkering back, scraping her front hoof, and cheerfully charging forward to potentially buck a tree is wonderful.
I also like how the mental image above is supported, for me, by how her tail is up over her back while her padded posterior is thrust up and back. With the tongue out you really get the feeling like she's raring to charge towards some pony. Maybe it's for a tackle hug?
Great work. :)

I"m glad I made the background compliment. I went by memory with a show background and I tried to make it match and have it in perspective and all.
Honestly I've never watched The Land Before Time, I did look her up and I can totally understand the comparison. Plus now i'm gonna watch The Land Before Time next time I get the time for artstuffs so thanks for the accidental recommendation. Huzzah to greatly animated movies.
And you hit the posing thing I was going for right on the head. Charging tackle hugs abound. For whom? Maybe I"ll do another picture with the aftermath.
Thanks for the comment X3 I always appreciate hearing from you Yosh.

As I enjoy seeing wonderfully executed works like yours. *Hugs*
The arts are most enjoyable, to me, when you can see a piece where imagining the past, present, and future is easy as pie. This work, as the last one I commented on, do well in keeping the subject from appearing "Flat". There's visible story going on in which all the image is doing is capturing a moment of it. The imagination fills in the rest to bring what is but an image to full animated life.
The Land Before Time is a beautiful movie. Don Bluth was a master when it came to animation. His other works are quite epic as well.
LBT had 12 follow up movies and a single series running show. The sequels pale to Don Bluth's original, though. However there are some gems in the series. Most notably the seventh installment, The Stone of Cold Fire. It has an epic message on leadership and accountability. It also has a fascinating take on mythology. :)
