So, this is the first comic I did with Danielle and Shard. I wasn't going to upoload it here for awhile, but changed my mind about that. There is a lot more storyline with these two on the way, so here it is for my own sense of completion and for the satisfaction of any readers who care to follow their story.
Chronologically, 'Gentle Things' happens before this story and 'Murderer's Blood' happens afterward, I think. This is the first story I did with them, however, and it dates from last year. Actually, I think the first half of the pencils are two years old; I stalled on this big time as Big LIfe Things hit me over the head. My style has changed somewhat (I hope I've gotten better) as well as how I want to handle the characters' designs and the look and pacing of the comic. There's so much I'd change now if I could, erf.
As far as the sepia ink, a conceit I'm rather enjoying, this really shows the progression. It was inked in Noodler's Kiowa Pecan, which is pretty, but quite variable and too transparent to really please me. I switched to other sepias half way, so the color variation from page to page has plenty to do with scanner evilness, but it's parly due to me being inconsistent with the ink. That may be TMI. Anyhow. Story.

Thank you for THAT compliment, wow.
Heh, "Danielle's" handwriting, which greatly resembles mine for some odd reason, is not very good, unfortunately; if it were better, it would be easier to read. I've been improving a lot because I've been making myself practice it.
I do have a letterer who has excellent cursive, who is lettering a shorter comic which is in the works. I could never inflict the unexpectedly large comics Danielle and Shard are engendering upon her, however. So improving my own writing is the best way to keep Danielle's hand consistent.

Oh man, I've had such a hard time lettering in photoshop. :P I don't think I have the patience to do any kind of digitally aided work, really---maybe if I had an easier to use program, or just understood it better, I'd have an easier time of it, but as it is I've a story that's sat done but for letters for something like four years now.
For this story, though, I think I'd stick with completely hand-done, just because I think the roughness adds to its atmosphere.
