"The winter, the moon, and me."
Part II, Winter Version
(Part I, Autumn Version)
I've been working on relearning French this past month- it's really one of the most beautiful languages to me. But it's only one of many that I want to tackle.
With any luck, Russian and Italian will be next.
But at any rate, here's Seven in her winter coat. I wanted to put icicles in there somewhere, but I felt like adding them would have been unrealistic and pushed it over the 'too fucking crowded' line.
I was conflicted about adding candles, and even more so about having the one in her hand lit. I adore Phantom of the Opera- and winter makes me think of it. So ivory candles seemed perfect and abstract, but there's a kind of catch.
Seven is a fire elemental, and I've always tried to force myself into fitting the fire element- but in reality I was born a water element because I'm a Scorpio. Naturally all of that stuff is just fun to read and muse on- not something to mold your life by or base decisions on, but I've always enjoyed the idea of elements being assigned to people.
Now, Scorpio is the last water element of the calender year, making it the 'coldest' water element. (Or at least, to me it is the closest to winter. Pisces is the water element thawing into spring)
And I always hella fought that whole 'born under this element' thing, because I think fire is the most interesting element. It's tricky, because almost everything about Scorpio's definition points towards a fire personality- but they are water. (keywords like intensity, the 'sex sign', passion, their mythological animal is the Phoenix, scorpions living in the desert- one of the hottest places on earth, their colors being reds and blacks, their stone being opal when there are strains of opal called fire opal, etc) But by the standard kind of definition the elements are personified by- I am unarguably a water element.
And after Frozen came out (which oh man- I'm sure everyone got some message out of that that they could relate to or that helped them in some way- which is great) I finally felt proud of being a 'water element by sign'. I can parallel my life to a few things in that movie. Like the water element, appearance (well, if Elsa was a chunk with really goofy expressions), her being set off after her sister and a dude wound up together suddenly, dat insecurity tho, you name it.
And fucksake, Korra makes it pretty cool too. (Although Avatar makes every damn element look amazing)
But instead of throwing some water/ice elemental stuff into this picture with Seven, I decided to keep it as it's been and skip that. AT LEEEAAAST, for now.
And for anyone who is into that kind of element-personality junk, here's some snips:
Stuff
And stuff
And more stuff
A-LONGA STORY SHORT,
I enjoyed drawing this.
Yee
P.S. EDIT Thanks for the response! I was told to provide evidence that my account was still being watched and that works perfectly- the name calling is a great addition as well.

I really like the throne. The natural rough-hewed cut to the logs, and the candles making a mess every where (which is exactly what candles do when left out in the open like that!). I also liked the jays; almost like watchers or sentries. Giving her literal 'eyes' in the back of her head. And the one guy up top: just can't seem to find a comfortable perch, like that guy that comes into the movie 5 minutes late and is all "Excuse me, pardon me, scusi..."
Great composition and an an amazing piece of art! Can I ask how long it took to do this?
(and I just noticed the bramble crown. Interesting...)

My mom is a Scorpio and I can see what you mean. She's very emotional, and she's an artist like you, so a lot of things effect her really deeply (whereas I, being a Libra, can be off with my head in the clouds and unaware). I apologize in advance if this sounds horribly wrong, but I've noticed with a lot of Scorpios that they save that "burning" part of their personality to convey their emotions. When a Scorpio is passionate about something, they almost glow with it like a fire. When a Scorpio is angry, you can sometimes see him/her smoldering and if they get irate, they will burn in a completely unforgettable way. I think the fiery part of the Scorpio is kind of like how water and ice can be so cold that it burns. It's nifty how in Eastern astrology they incorporate more elements into their animal descriptions. For instance, like with my mom (I'm using hers since I'm an Earth Snake and that's really redundant since Snake is an Earth sign as is), she's a Monkey, but due to the year she was born, she's a Fire Monkey. I joke about that and say she must like bananas foster. I kind of wish they did that in Western astrology to give some further personalization to the signs, but Western astrology has the whole natal chart thing for people whom REALLY want to get in depth, so at least there's that.
That's a really awesome explanation!
I'm actually a double-water element, my Chinese Zodiac animal is a monkey as well- so I'm a Scorpio (water) + Monkey (water). Hella wish I could have been a Tiger or a Dragon on the zodiac- but y'know, you have to be happy with who you are and try to find some pride in the things that make you you- and not try to be someone or something else. You'll never find any real happiness until you are true to yourself.
(Super deep sentiment to just be talking about zodiac stuff, but I kinda mean that in every aspect of life)

Man, if you enjoy mulling over the elements and astrology then I would like to suggest "Linda Goodman's Sun signs" if you have the time! It's so well written, fun to read and doesn't take it's self too seriously! It's a wonderful read and the lady who wrote it is great! I'll leave you with a little snippet from the end of the scorpio section: [also heads up, the book is so worth the buy, but it seems like all the "posted online" versions are always fucked up and don't actually go in order of the book/have shit tons of typos, dunno what that is all about u_u]
"Pluto's symbol is the triumphant phoenix rising from its own smoldering ashes, and Scorpio personifies the resurrection from the grave. Both the gray lizards and the stinging scorpions can become proud eagles without ever revealing the secret of their sorcery. No use to ask-Scorpio will never tell. But he knows the eternal truth of the circle contained in the symbolic zero.
November's thistle is dangerous, yet it grows entwined with the heavy, languid beauty of the Scorpio honeysuckle. Have you ever inhaled that sweet, overwhelming fragrance on a still midsummer's night? Then you will know why there are those who brave the thistles to seek the Scorpio-exquisite gentleness. The explosive passion of Pluto has the rich, dark red wine color of the bloodstone. But Scorpio steel is tempered in a furnace of unbearable heat until it emerges cool, satiny smooth-and strong enough to control the nine spiritual fires of Scorpio's wisdom." - Linda goodman "How to recognize a Scorpio"
Also, fun fact: Scorpio is the only sign in the zodiac to have 3 representations. The eagle/phoenix, gray lizard and scorpion.

That is awesome, and I never knew that Scorpio was also a gray lizard representation- which is freakin' neat because the first thing I think of when I think of 'gray lizard' is Godzilla :,D
Thank you for sharing that with me, I love reading into stuff like this and when people add their own input or what they have found, it's really amazing.

Iron Throne/Khaleesi reference vaguely thrown into this piece awww yissss.
Fire is amazing! It's super powerful, and I think that's why I'm so attracted to it. It's the element that really sets the 'not to be fucked with' standard. Because it is ultimately the most destructive, I feel. But of course, fire can lend to new life as well. Whereas water was always boring to me, but it's a healing element naturally- and it's very flexible, but I thought it was weak.
And I guess I hated that my personality was honestly reflected in the water element. It made me feel weak for being so empathetic, and sensitive to the emotions and needs of people around me. But I am not a brash, energetic, go-getter burn-em-down fire element kind of person. I have passion, and intensity, but I am who I am- and while I'll still draw myself with fire, I've come to terms with how water as an element isn't necessarily weak or undervaluable, it can be powerful and destructive, and it can hide a lot under it's surface. But anyway I'm gonna stop rambling ohman ;A;

You're welcome!
I think the throne just fits her so perfectly <333
YOU'RE amazing! No no don't stop rambling! I just love how passionate this stuff makes you feel and I learn a lot from your little speeches c:
I always thought water was pretty cool, I never saw it as weak or undervaluable, but rather strong and unwavering. Water has the ability to adapt to its "surroundings" i guess with how it can change with whatever is containing it. But water is also very important! I dont see anything wrong with being empathetic, and sensitive to emotions and needs of other people, sometimes I wish I relied on the company of other people rather than being alone most of the time. I dont really see myself as a fire type of personality (although I can be a little stubborn and prideful at times. Oh I'm very much a leo, minus the part of how they have to be the center of attention all the time ;A; ) I honestly feel like water and fire have very much in common although they're different what with the fire leading the way to new life and water having that healing factor and what not. You should feel proud to be born with a water sign, and to have so much love for the fire element <33
Now I feel like I rambled owo
