Weeeeeeeeeeeeird lookin' critters, and not really related to crabs at all. They've actually got more in common with scorpions or arachnids. And they have blue, Copper-based blood.

Yeah, I briefly lifted it up to have a look underneath its skirt, but it wriggled around so I quickly stopped molesting it. They're quite fascinating, really. Did the documentary mention anything about the pharmaceutical industry using their blood for testing for bacteria in drug samples?
beleive it or not, but if you played pokemon then this is what its real life counter part is most or nearly all of the first seasons are based from real life creatures wherever they are legend myth or well this, uber cool though i must admit, never actually seen a horseshoe crab before, they look preety cool from underneath the body as well
Ah, never been a fan of anime or the whole Pokemon thing, sorry - so similarities whether intentional or not are pretty much lost/wasted on me. But yeah, these little critters are rather freaky cool looking You know when nature has got the design done right when there is little to no change to the basic design for so long
