::Adoptables:: Evren Rarity Chart and Species Info
Evrens have a lot of possible trait expressions, so I thought it more fitting to do a rarity chart + written info, than bother with an info sheet (and my horrible hand writing).
The chart includes all of the current possible traits, but more may be created and included as the species develops.
OVERVIEW
Evrens are the descendants of a once mighty and legendary water dragon of old. Although they do have an affinity for water (and do require at least once daily soakings), they are in fact land dwellers despite their lineage.
They are a very intelligent and noble race. (The best likeliness to their disposition, would be to compare them to elves; regal, serious, disciplined, and proper.) It is uncommon to see an unruly or loud Evren. Any that express out in such a way are considered undignified and strange, and typically looked down on or avoided by the rest.
Due to how pivotal it is in their survival, Evrens almost always live near water--usually the sea.
Evrens have very long memories. Their race are hoarders of information and forgotten relics, and many even know olden and powerful magicks thought to be lost through the ages. The extent of how much and what Evrens know as a whole is unknown; they are very secretive and heavily guard their knowledge and hoard.
PHYSIOLOGY:
Evrens average slightly taller than humans, typically falling between 5'5 and 6'5. There is no noticeable difference in height expression between the sexes and the species as a whole tends to be more slender and lithe. Females do develop breasts, and may appear a bit more curvey, but overall the frames of males and females are very similar--thin, with slight curving, and faces more 'beautiful' considered than 'handsome.'
The typical lifespan of an Evren is longer than most. They typically live ~200 years, and those with more magical ability or high importance within their society may live longer or be permitted the use of magicks to extend their life.
Evrens are far more graceful than humans, but typically physically weaker. They make up for this lacking with magical skill and intelligence.
An Evren's diet typically includes more fish than anything else. They can enjoy a wide variety of foods, including vegetables, fruits, and breads, nuts, etc., but do not usually care for any other meats.
An Evren's skin is very smooth and has a texture similar to most things born of water. It can very easily dry out, though, and requires at least once daily soaking in water to prevent it. Multiple days of not soaking will deteriorate their health. After five days of not doing so they will begin to fall seriously ill, and if they cannot get a proper soak within a day--possibly two, they will likely die. After five days of not soaking, they require a full day of it to regain proper health, after seven days it will be considered too late no matter how much soaking an Evren does.
Their antenna are very sensitive, and will allow no one but their partner (or parents, when they are young) to touch them. Attempting to touch them without permission is considered exceptionally rude and inappropriate, and will quickly put you out of favor with any Evrens that should hear about it.
WITHIN SOCIETY
Canonically for my world, most Evrens live in an ancient city near the northern highlands off the coast. It is rare for them to travel or live elsewhere away from their kin.
Although Evrens can be harshly judgmental of their own when it comes to social norms, they are accepting of others and make generous hosts. They are excellent teachers and like to subtly help others in what they believe to be in the name of the greater good. Evrens are excellent judges of character, though, and will adamantly refuse those they see as unjust or corrupt.
While they share common knowledge freely, and may part some olden information or magic occasionally at their own discretion, most of their secrets will never be shared with anyone but the trusted of their own kind. If one can prove themselves to an Evren as worthy, they may be willing to share spells, potions, or other rare or forgotten magicks, though. But this is difficult to do, and they will never share more than one or two things to any one outsider.
Typically Evrens avoid physical conflicts. In wars, they often will hole themselves up and declare themselves neutral, or choose the roles of medics or support over fighters. This is due to Evrens considering that they are above such behavior. They will only ever go to war if they, themselves, are under attack.
RANDOM FACTS AND TIDBITS
Evrens prefer soaking in salt waters, but fresh water will work, too. It isn't considered as enjoyable, though.
Most skilled in water and healing magicks. They are least skilled in fire and earth elements.
There are certain rare traits that can mark an Evren as an "Oracle"- it is very rare and such an Evren is noted as exceptionally skilled in a great, vast number of things, and have many skills come to them naturally without training. Oracles are almost always placed in a highly important role within society, either as their ruler or more typically the Knower of all their olden magicks and secrets, occasionally as both.
Evrens are naturally excellent swimmers, but prefer swimming and relaxing in their own small pools to swimming in public or open places.
Evrens do not typically experience true and strong love. It is not unheard of, but such passion and pull is rare. Most Evrens are lax, experiencing several lovers and partners in their lifetime. Partnerships are more often based on friendship and agree-ability than stronger expressions of emotion. When a relationship of pure and strong love does happen, though, it is admired and recognized as special by all. There are, in fact, a few well known old songs and stories spun around True Ones through history.
It is uncommon for Evrens to take up partners not of their species. Doing so can be looked down upon and viewed as strange. What can another have that an Evren cannot get from their own?
