sloths-of-fa is holding an art contest, so I figured I'd throw something together for it. It's nothing fancy or as artistic as it could have been for the theme of friendship, but I figured a text-based image would be fitting for this.
My sloth character doesn't have any friends, yet, which leads to the comment that "It’s not something everyone has, but it’s something everyone should have." As she sticks around, her interaction with my other characters will grow, and I get the feeling that she'll wind up good friends with an adorable couple of mine. (Mainly because one of them isn't afraid of the tough types and loves sweet things, while the other character is less expressive and goes with their partner's flow, lol)
And I've actually held every form of friendship mentioned here.
There's the temporary friends, who you talk to for a few weeks, then life happens and you drift apart quickly. I usually was the first friend to new people in an area, but once I get them more comfortable and they make other friends, I drift off and let them do their own thing.
There's the true friends whom I can be my true around, but at some point I get to be too much for most of them, and they leave. Only one person has stayed this friend with me for many years, and she's a best friend.
There's the "I'll use you, and you'll use me" friendship that's shaky, but it works until someone stabs the other in the back. I've had many people like this when I was younger, but as I've grown up and matured, I no longer hold these friendships if I can help it.
Then there's one that I didn't mention on here. The Online Friends.
Online friends can fall into any of the above categories, but they don't. They are people whom you meet on one site or another and care for as friends, but at the same time you keep your distance from them so that if you leave the site or they leave the site, there's no emotional harm done over it.
Every interaction between two people is different. There's no two friendships that are the same, and if you value one friendship enough, try to prevent it from ever breaking.
