So yeah, here is a character that's been in development for FIVE FREAKING YEARS. She's something I've been developing on and off as she's a character designed out of a mood.

It started out as sketches for an oddworld character, something that was 'us' ads an oddworld character, something I did whilst concepting for slig storm. I did creatures that would look like they'd eat fish as that was my thing at the time- was working part time in a fish and chips and generally eating a lot of fish so it' sort of clicked. I do love my bottom 'alien' concepts still (middle and far right on the top head shots) - may further that one day.

Then I made the creature bat-like since I love bats and can't resist. The character then evolved into a bat-like creature. From there I've done a few development sketches. The character turned into my own thing called 'Mudd'. It sort of reflected how I felt at the time and have somewhat since. I was tired and everything seemed thick in my head and unclear. Some days I really feel 'worn' and this character is supposed to represent that.

I sort of cobbled together a bunch of things I like in animals toward this character. Long rat-lien tail, find and pseudo wings, armour, hand-feet and quills. But as you'll see, I like the idea of making Mudd a 'normal' anthropomorphic character. Looking into bats that eat fish I found the perfect species to model Mudd on- 'The bulldog faced bat'. Love it.

So I'm still deciding if I like her sort of 'alien/hybrid' look or her realistic animal look.

I like the idea she's a pub owner who can fry up anything you want, but it better be fish.
