Most of the information about the hybrid Protean Ariel Zabat are hardly secrets in the Felton community. She is a siren on her mother's side, two generations removed from the Echidna Theodora Zabat. Her Siren mother, Carolina Zabat, is a professional opera singer of no small repute in the Miskatonic area - though she is planning on 'retirement' and going "underground" for a time, as her lack of aging has started garnering comments in the last few years. Her father (a merman who goes by the name of Liam) is presently not in the picture, and that is how Ariel likes it. Ariel herself is an aspiring singer and music major at Felton University of the Arts and Sciences. She is considerably gifted with natural talents from both sides of her extranatural heritage: A voice that can entrance and control those susceptible to her charm, a very long life expectancy, and, when completely exposed to water (particularly salt water) she changes, her body taking on several mermaid-like attributes.

It is also fairly common knowledge that Ariel is a snide bitch with a sharp of tongue, a high opinion of herself, and an air of a person who's used to getting what she wants when she wants it, and daddy issues. She has been known readily use others for her own whims and urges, and up until the last year or so has had little concern for the aftermath. The only people she seems to genuinely care about and show consideration for are some of her relatives - particularly her cousins Demetria Stheno and Harriet Sparrow - and an on-and-off boyfriend, a Nok called Kelby Hemming. When she isn't 'on' Sean, she is highly promiscuous, sleeping with men and women alike. Most assume that she prefers women, as many of the men she's slept with (her "bad dates") have gone missing - lost to her more carnivorous hungers after she's satisfied her carnal ones - while all of her female partners are alive and well, if deeply irked by her bad attitude. She has had quite the series of "bad dates" prior to her joining M.E.A., and she had been getting a bit less careful about covering her tracks. That combination leads has which leads to the last few facts about Ariel - more or less private tidbits of information.

She is part of the Man-Eaters Anonymous support group for three reasons: Her mother has officially cut Ariel off from financial support, kicked her out of their home, and will stop covering for her "immature behavior" (I.E. slaughtering her male lovers). And now that she's no longer shielded by her mother's connections, the head of the local S.3.R.A. branch has made it very plain that if she continues to prey on men and gets caught at it, Ariel will either be arrested or executed; either way, she'd end up in a small hole and never see the light of day again. Last, and perhaps almost as important as the "death or imprisonment" issue, she thinks (after some long discussions with her dear cousins) she may actually have some issues that need to be worked out and it might help… Not that she'll admit that last one out loud to anyone who knows her. And if you so much as presume that she is less than self-assured about her choices and way of life, well... For your sake, you had better be a very pretty lady.
