I originally made this drawing for
daeran as a birthday gift. The idea was to combine things I knew he liked.
I thought of this space setting with a female lizard warrior that was either injured or in distress by hostile creatures. Needless to say I took reference from metroid, otherworldly landscapes and chubby furs :) I didn't dress Charis into a complete "powersuit" (more like shields for impacts and stuff), because she is tough like that, running half naked across hostile alien landscapes xD She is modelled after the texas horned lizard.
Charis is originally from a tribal planet of hunters. People are mostly ruled by females leaders and plentyfulness as a symbol of fertility has a significant role in culture, also explaining Charis's choice of shape dispite her job :P
Originally she was to have a traditional "energy gun" of sorts but I wanted to throw in something different:
Due to a near death injury in an early mission years ago, her left arm was replaced by a cybernetic one by a military corporation called Black Cell. This Stiletto class cybernetic prosthesis has twice the strength of an organic one, conceals a powerfull rail-minigun in the upper-arm and is still modelled aesthetic enough to wear in daily life. It's a practical aid in life yet a dangerous compact weapon with alot of suprise value.
The picture is slightly digitally modified from the original in that the black areas are a solid colour instead of clearly showing my marker strokes. There was a lot of experimental stuff in this one for me, like the planet eclipse and the faint clouds. In retrospect, I think the planet in the sky pops out of the picture too much. Should have coloured the mountains almost black, made the clouds darker because of the sun and added more shadow to the characters. Oh well.
More art, story and background of Charis is underway.
(Sorry for possible misspellings, bleh)

What can I say? You know me well, and I sure as hell love this pic! :D Love how you show off her body in this, but still give her a bad-ass look :) Also, nice to know a bit more of her past, more spesifically where she comes from.
All in all, awesome work. We need moar of Charis! ;D

Elbow energy cannon? Rockin'
I don't think I've ever seen quite like it.
So you ink and do marker-work then?.. Nothing wrong with a little digital work.. I've colored entire peices, then changed my mind and broke them down into cell-shades.. And I even fixed white spots in a black ink background. ^^;

All marker work. I had a real ink pen but never got used to it. "Too much work" trying to maintain it and still it took forever for the ink to start running again :l Though I'm sure real ink would make for some proper black fills.
Heh, there's nothing wrong with digital altering, I just like the challenge of trying to get everything right the first try :] Well that and I lack the software for proper work (me and photoshop don't get along). That aside I fix the white spots too :D
Thanks for some good comments!

I like to get it right the first try, XD I just have a tendency to screw up my highlighting.. I'm a colorpencil artist who does the linework in black ink.. so when I mess up the linework I'm ruined ^^;
I've seen some great stuff made with marker too though, is that not so far from actual size? ^^; I'm sorry, see.. I don't know what real art supplies look like, I use Crayola pencils. I've never owned quality materials so I'm still gaping at how small and clean those lines are.

Ah, yea :D Correction pens are usefull with failed lineart, though then again they wouldn't work well with colours :l So I get your methods there ^^
Actually I've sold my soul to *cough* copics, since all alternative markers (which I was happy with) have vanished from local stores :l The thinnest lines are made with a 0.05

Asking you all those questions inspired me allot , made me wanna go back to drawing.
I am going to post my most resent doodles (they are like 3 years old) I would be honored that you could give me a comment !
But before that, another question!
What was your first introduction into the furry universe ?
