Bibliophile. Eclectic. Necrovore: True Facts About Clarice
Clarice McNamara is something of an open book. She's a graduate student perusing her Master's in English, as well as pursuing her bachelor's degree in education. She has a deep passion for all manners of literature (though there's a few kinds that are more 'guilty pleasures'). And while she can be a little awkward in her attempts at socialization - she sometimes has trouble with controlling the volume of her voice when she's excitable, and when she doesn't get into a kind of rambling "nerd zone," she's easily flustered and prone to stammering - that doesn't keep her from being quite sociable and friendly. And though she comes off as the quiet, passive sort, Ms. McNamara is also a font of odd, unexpected hobbies: The most surprising ones including dancing (especially the ballroom variety), analyzing songs and making silly parodies, and experimenting with new, interesting recipes for foods that are past their expiration dates.
If that last one sounds odd, well, it's not so strange when you consider that Clarice is a breed of "undead" Ghoul that requires a steady diet of decaying matter. Traditionally, Ghouls are known for feeding off the dead humans, sustaining an unnatural existence through abominable acts… For Clarice, the good news is that her breed of Ghoul isn't limited to just eating human corpses: It could be any meat, as well as fruits, vegetables, and other products. As long as she maintains her necessary diet of edibles gone bad, she'll not be getting any older (she's been 18 for ten years now), her body will never change and she recovers from damage quickly, and she hardly needs any rest,.
The bad news, however, is that if her variety of Ghoul doesn't maintain their necessary diet of goodies gone bad, they suffer first mental, then physical, decline - in other words, hungry Ghouls turn into mindless, violent monsters akin to something out of a Romero film… And in that state, these kind of Ghouls tend to go after live humans. Not that fresh meat will improve their mood - but it may just be an instinctive drive to spread their condition to fresh hosts, since once their body starts decaying, there's not much chance of recovering… Another downside? Human flesh is very addictive for Clarice's species… And Clarice, on her first night as a new, ravenous Ghoul, not only took a bite out of a morgue attendant, but also ate a rather ripe corpse that had been pulled out of a nearby river that same day. That's the primary reason Clarice is in M.E.A. - to help her control her cravings, and have a safe place with people who know what it's like to struggle with urges that they don't want to act on. Plus, the people there, by and large, are really neat and fascinating - and Clarice… Well, as stated earlier - she may be a little socially awkward, but you can't have social awkwardness without being social!

KawaiiJumi - I believe this makes eight that she's done for me so far all together, and I absolutely love this version of Clarice. I love the round, chubbier face, and Kawaii has done a wonderful job with her coloring - she has a very good pallor in my opinion, and her eyes are just gorgeous. Additionally, I like how subtle the gray streaks in her hair are. I don't think I have anything in the way of complaints regarding this piece. Beautiful quality, a gorgeous rendition of one of my favorite Ghouls. I couldn't be happier. :3
Also - for the True Facts, got a bit more detailed with Clarice's info than in the original post for this headshot. There's still a lot of details about Clarice left unsaid, but I'll save those for later things. And this is the last True Facts entry for a while, until I can afford more headshots - hopefully with my next pay check I can pull it off - but don't worry. There's plenty more art and info tidbits to throw at you guys. One of the joys of being a slow poster - I've got a ton of backed up stuff to post up. ^_^
