Random Pokemon Anthro: Ricky "Top Percentage"
I feel like I've been in a rut lately. I feel like I've been drawing the same thing over and over and over. There's so many things I've drawn that I haven't submitted to the site because, I feel like my problem lately... is that I draw too many fat characters. I don't want people to think I'm some weird fat-fetishist dude, so a lot of the fat characters I drew, even two pretty decent pictures of a hippo I'm using in an RP, never got submitted.
Personally, I don't want people to think I'm gross just because I draw a lot of tubbies. But if you ask me, here's my deal: When it comes to art, I see a LOT of fat characters on Fur Affinity. However, I don't fave pictures just because they're fat. When it comes to fat characters, I look for something else. Fat characters aren't these giant deformed blob-like creatures who look absolutely useless and disgusting. Fat characters aren't these walking food vaccums who fart a lot either. And fat characters aren't there for nothing more than to just look fat and ugly. A lot of art I see do just that: they're of formless blobs, fatties stuffing their faces and are overall just showing off their jiggling blubber, which just doesn't do it for me.
To me, fat guys are your best friend. They may sometimes be dumb as a brick, but you can't help but love them for their friendliness. They're these big, squishy balls of happiness who give really good hugs, and they have well intentions to boot.
But fat guys are also these big, strong creatures with impenitrable bellies. Fat guys are tough, imposing and powerful. What they lack in speed, they make up for in strength. Fat guys quake the ground with every step and are able to laugh at their targets as they hopelessly fire gatling-gun punches away at him.
This character, for example supposed to be a combination of all those things. I almost feel like I might have went a bit too far with the fatness, but I kind of have a habit of over-exaggerating things. I try to keep the details minimal and tasteful. I sometimes have fat drooping over the feet, but other then that, I usually draw tubbies that are smooth and round. I don't like overflowing drooping fat, I think it's gross.
Anyway, this is Ricky "Top Percentage" Raticate. He is one of the members of a group of Pokemon known as the Mightyfats, and the newest and youngest. The Mightyfats are a group of huge Pokemon who fight for good. They have a few rules for those who join their group: The Pokemon eat a special diet (Ala Thumper) that makes them big and strong, giving them thick bellies capable of absorbing blows. In order to join the group, you need to have a strong enough belly to absorb a blow from a very strong Machamp enough that they cannot be sent over a line.
They have an arch nemesis, a rejected member who they felt was too fat and not strong enough. To be a Mightyfat, one cannot just be grossly fat, overflowing with blubber and such. As such, the rejected member happens to be a gross looking creature who's porcine stature goes too far. He wants revenge against the Mightyfats for his rejection and... I guess they raise an army or something.
Ricky doesn't have very big arms, being a Raticate and all, so he prefers to make up for his tiny arms with his favorite weapon, a big club with a big Percent sign carved into it. Although he's one of the smaller members, his belly is no less strong, even capable of taking punches from much larger creatures. Plus his tail also acts as a weapon.
This will probably be the only character related to those guys that I draw. Even though I like drawing tubby creatures, I'm still not comfortable drawing or submitting a lot of pictures of them.

Many people consider drawing fat characters a fetish, so I do get worried when I end up drawing a lot of them, but it's nice to know people like you are there to make me feel more comfortable about drawing them. I'm still going to try drawing other things, but I'm starting to feel less bad that I draw a lot of fatties.
Thanks for showing me her art. I don't get a lot of traffic on my page, so it doesn't bother me as much, but I can see where it would be annoying to only get faved for fat pictures. Honestly, her non-fat pictures strike another weakness of mine: Puffy art styles with thick arms and legs.
I think I just realized the extent of my appreciation for fat characters. I ended up getting bored with writing my Mightyfats fanfic. It's just that while I grew attached to the characters, it was very limited in what they could do. ...So I'm writing Ricky in a new story, but I'm having a hard time drawing the characters. One characters a huge muscular Bibarel who has a huge "Primitive Bruiser" type look going for him, but I'm having a hard time putting ideas to paper. Have you ever made characters who were big ugly bruiser types?
The Mightyfats/Team Meteor is comprised of six members, Ricky the Raticate/Hedgepossum, Toasty the Emboar/Winged Pig, Fang the Krookodile/Alippo, Doshin the Pangoro/Grizzly Bear, Ashton the Purugly/Manticore and Master Tuumba the Snorlax/Sasquatch-like Monster. The only other Pokemon version of the characters I've drawn is Toasty, but the alternate Original versions of the characters all have drawn out mugshots, Ricky and Doshin have drawn out pictures, and Ricky, Toasty and Fang have a third version where they are less fat, but still very much so.
