Reserved. Stubborn. Cursed Gifts: True Facts About Isabelle
A somewhat well-known member of the Felton Extranatural community, one Miss Isabelle Marconi is something of an oddity for her kind. Longanas - a female, satyr-esque entity with the eyes and lower body of a goat and natural capabilities for communing with spirits - are known for being a peaceful, more docile species, preferring quiet, pastoral lives in small communities of their own kind or other Extranaturals. And while most who are acquainted with Miss Marconi will tell you that she is certainly a more quiet, private woman, and is polite to a fault, in the next breath they'll say she's the most headstrong, willful thing alive. Once she's made up her mind about doing something, swaying her practically takes and act of god. They'll also say that she hates depending on others, and never leaves a debt unsettled if she can help it - and lord help the person who actually gets on her bad side; a polite tongue doesn't make it isn't sharp.
Additionally, they'll also relate that she has lived anything but a quiet, isolated life - for the most part, anyway. She's spent almost two decades, from the ages of fourteen to thirty-two, travelling around North America (as well as some of South America and Europe), placating angry or confused souls and spirits and performing exorcisms on possessed people. There was a fourteen year lull in her career as a professional exorcist when the attempt at banishing a spiritual parasite from a young child resulted in the near death of both the child and Isabelle: she survived it with a crippling injury to Isabelle's left leg that would leave her barely able to use it for most of a decade, along with the Longana herself becoming infected by the parasite instead. She hasn't found a way to get rid of it herself that doesn't involve passing it to someone else that won't end up in her death. On the outside, the infection may not look like a bad thing: Isabelle's aging has halted since that time - she's 49 now and still looks like she's in her early 30s - but it's altered her in other ways as well. Her canines have become sharp, pointed fangs, and she's been afflicted with a hunger for blood that gets stronger when she uses her natural gifts for communing with spirits. And sating that bloodlust always has lethal results for the donor…
Isabelle chose isolation in the Felton underground and to stop using her abilities to limit the damage she would cause up until a few years ago - when she met a man, Christopher Warburton, who could survive her hunger, and who needed help with his own issues that only she could assist with. It's a strange match, and not one Isabelle is always comfortable with due to her need to stand on her own, but it's allowed Isabelle to get back to doing what she loved: Helping people and bringing spirits back into balance… Plus, Chris has grown on her; when he isn't transforming into a horrible beast, he's a pretty sweet, mild-mannered guy, owns his own business, and he does his best to help her feel independent. She's almost comfortable with the idea of going down the aisle with him - almost.
Whoops! Almost for got to include a credit to the artist,
KawaiiJumi. Isabelle is my character, but Kawaii did all the hard work of creating this first piece of her. Miss Marconi looks very lovely here, and I'm eagerly looking forward to the day I'll actually get a full body shot of her.
