if humans could somehow wipe themselves out without wiping red pandas out furst,
in another million or so years, they might evolve into the next sapients.
granted their current brain mass may be a handicap, (under all that fur, they're only about the size of a pine martin)
but there are several evolutionary ways in which that might only be a temporary setback.
(and watching some of their behavior in videos, several even furthur out there speculations cross my mind)
