✧ Habitat and customs ✧

Musiquis are mammals of 1m size approx. They live about 100 years.

They don't live in specific areas. Instead they have a predilection for abandoned places like castles, abbeys, churches, etc, in which they establish and reform in their decorating style. They make beds their size, plus furniture and tools. The only society officially established are the monastery of the Crystal. The rest practice their trades/craft independently, although in each settlement there is at least an alchemist to restore the power of crystals off.


They feed off Konpeito. Musiquis are wise creatures and they need sugar to develop their intellect. The konpeito balls musiqui make are twice the size of an apple. So a single unit serves for a whole day. Also they drink water, honey, and fruit juice.

✧ Instruments ✧

Regarding the instrument of their tails, it serves to show their mood, to greet, to perform rituals and magic. The most common are the bell and tambourine. but there are many exceptions. Musiquis study the magical qualities of their instruments throughout their lives. But some of them prefer to pursue other activities away from the magic such as trade, arts, and even martial arts.

If the instrument is damaged they fall into a deep sleep and can't wake up until someone fixes it.

✧ Musiquis and humans ✧

They are very quiet and reserved but when they say something they do it with intelligence, usually helpful and friendly. They are shy creatures that would like to live with humans unobtrusively. The wisest musiquis have achieved a magic able to give them a human appearance. Such magic is contained within crystals and can be activated by a musical ritual. However, this magic is not perfect and the transformed musiquis still keep the ears and tail from their original form. The scholars continue studying diligently to improve it.


✧ About the crystals ✧

Ancient Musiquis discovered a crystal that can soak up magic and they built a monastery around it. If a musiqui wants to become human, they have to come to this place and get a piece of the crystal (the size and shape varies). This fragment is recharged of magic power via a ritual and its effect lasts while maintaining the shining (1 year aprox.). When the effect ceases is necessary to find an alchemist to restore its power.

Transformation can last as long as power has the crystal. About 1 year. During that time, the musiqui can become human or reverse transformation by a ritual they can practice alone (a dance and some magic words). They have to bring/wear the crystal as accessory (pendant, earring, etc) with them to be human, otherwise it wouldn't be possible.

They can fall in love with humans, but like their transformation is a product of magic, they can't raise a family.
