S C O R P I O N E T T ESo this was about 98% done on my birthday, but I was so exhausted that I couldn't even color in the thorns and roses. But now it's officially done, and in Savannah no less!
While this character is heavily based on me (i-is almost identical to me), I obviously don't have those badass horns or inhumanly long hair. I mean, I get annoyed with my hair being long enough to sit on-- I can't imagine hair long enough to wrap around yourself like a damn robe.
BUT WHAT SHE OFFICIALLY IS, is a sort of embodiment for my association under Scorpio. I've always been really connected and proud of my sign. While I don't go in for daily horoscopes or predictions or anything like that, I always find it super frickin' cool when people's signs happen to match their personalities. And Scorpio is a dead ringer for me.
It's stone (October) is Opal
It's holiday is Halloween
It holds Samhain
It's colors are red and black
It's symbol is a scorpion (I also love scorpion fish, like stone and lionfish)
It's the 'passion' sign
It's a water sign, and therefore good at understanding people, being empathetic, psychic abilities, and being deeply emotional.
It's planets are Mars and Pluto (both containing red and red associations, as well as both being 'fire planets' AND represented by the mythological gods of War and the Underworld)
It's a fixed sign
Positively, they can be intense, passionate, determined, and intuitive
Negatively, they can be jealous, secretive, obsessive, and suspicious
It's heavily associated with death and rebirth.
It's phrase is 'I desire'
It's metal is steel
It's flowers are chrysanthemums (meeh?), and calla lilies
It's known to be great at reading people, their motives, and their desires- known also as 'human lie detectors'
It's moon is the 'Blood Moon' or 'Hunter's Moon' (October)
It's the sign/season (October) that The Nightmare Before Christmas debuted in. Specifically, October 29th 1993
But taking a more personal approach to this 'artistically'- I really liked the idea of making an alternate character for myself based on all the aesthetics I associate with Scorpio. Some of them being-

Even though most of those align with Scorpio more or less, they are just my personal choices! And could change based on a person's perception of their own sign, in other words, there's no 'right answer' with this. It was just a ton of fun u w u

Segueing from my sign to my birthday, here's some stuff I found out about my birthday:
-My due date was October 31st, but when I was born early on October 26th- APPARENTLY I WAS BORN ON FUCKIN' NATIONAL PUMPKIN DAY. THE PUMPKIN KING LIVES.
-I share the same birthday as Khaleesi actress Emilia Clarke. Thank you, universe!
-I was born in a leap year, and therefore instead of the usual 299th day- I was born on the 300th day of the year.
-I was 'born in the veil'- and a ton of superstitions surround that! Apparently everything from it saving sailors from drowning (nautical!), the person born being a vampire, and most commonly- that the person born would have psychic abilities, a sixth sense, or the ability to see/communicate with the dead.
-A supermoon happened on my birthday this year
On a finishing note- this was my birthday present to myself. So now you'll be seeing commissions cranked out for a while, I wanted to get some up tonight but the drive down here was exhausting and we're going to try and get up early tomorrow. You guys can expect some work as early as Wednesday night!
P.S. I'll also be around to start thanking everyone for their birthday wishes & gifts, and maybe make a journal to tell you all about how awesome it was thanks to you guys, the boyfriend, friends, and family! I seriously couldn't have asked for a better day ;w;

My Gammy always loves telling the 'veil' story. I was her first grandchild, so she wasn't expecting anything but a normal birth, but she said I looked like an opal- all those rainbows reflecting off of the veil. (Then my poor cousin has to hear the story about how when he was born, he looked like a wet cat)
