This is the piece started on my Picarto stream a few weeks back. Well now that the Holidays are over I decided to get this done and ready for the Further Confusion art show. It is my typical colored pencil, with a bit of technical pen and some gouache. So this is more or less what one of the images looked like that Petina showed when she gave her presentation one night in my dreamscape of possible anthro pony picture I should consider doing.
Things I learned doing this piece:
1. Celestia's mane is difficult to do.
2. Tequila Sunrises are easy to do.
3. Celestia's mane is difficult to do.
4. I'm getting better at bird wings
5. Celestia's mane is difficult to do.
If you are detecting that her mane is difficult to do, you'd be correct. However I wanted to get some more practice rendering it in color before I start on the color version of Sun Chariot
I hope you like what you see. Please help make more art like this possible by supporting me at Patreon

Yes yes, but are they easy to draw? :b
On a more artistic note, parts of the picture seem a lot noisier than I remember. I could have sworn the sky was a more solid blue when you were colouring it. Is that an artifact of the webcam not picking up detail, or the scanner adding detail? (I'm halping!) O a result of me not staying up to see you add the finishing touches? ^.^
I find myself wondering what this picture actually looks like.

Creating Tequila Sunrise for the picture was a very simple process.

Well Caerdwyn has to really boosted the contrast in the camera so it can pick up the subtler details in the picture. That has a tendency to drop some details from the picture, and despite my wife's best efforts there are soft colors, especially in Celestia and the clouds, that art lost when scanning is done. But that has always been the case with art reproductions.
FYI. If past experience is correct you should be getting your package soon.

Yes, I do but first I need to know what I am looking for and what it will cost. Which is not cheap. Also I will need to confer with Caerdwyn of how they will integrate into the existing system.
Concerning the scanner my wife and I have done some homework on the subject. For a 11"x 17" scanner of better quality than the one we're using at the moment it will cost over 1K. I have been eyeballing some 18"x 24" flatbed scanners, but refurbished models are still running about 2K.
At the moment I am trying to pay for as much of my new equipment through actual revenue generated from art sales not by going to folks with hat in hand.
