Jasen grew up in a mixed naturalist colony so he's always felt the motivation to take care of his body with a healthy diet and plenty of exercise, which led him into sports and running in particular. He also has a keen interest in survival techniques because of the lifestyle in the colony living close to nature.

The community he grew up in is a very close knit one, where everyone knows everyone and always willing to help out a friend. So when a family in the colony had a hard time taking care of medical bills Jason and some friends he regularly goes to the track with decided to help the family out by forming a sled team and gain sponsorship per mile. In the end they managed to raise more than enough money to help the family cover their bills, and the leftover money was donated to another charity which gained the colony a lot of promotion and an increase in membership.

Since then Jasen and his friends have been considering to keep doing this professionally with their main goal being to join and finish the Iditarod. So far they've participated twice after a lot trouble to even be allowed to do so, but never made it to the finish line through some bad luck and underestimating the challenge. But the team remains optimistic and they keep trying every year, and even if they do not succeed they're happy that their effort helps their community at least.
