The official MP3 version (created by me using GarageBand) of the Critter Village theme music, which plays while you're out exploring the game's central hub area. The actual game will use MOD music instead, not only for a more accurate retro-game sound, but because MODs loop cleanly. So consider this a track off the "arranged album".

The melody is really good, but the instruments sound 'wrong' somehow. It might sound better if you used higher quality samples. Alternatively, since you're going for a retro sound, I bet that song would make an awesome chiptune. Maybe you could get some NESsoundchip or SID samples?
Though, that's just my thoughts, it's a good song anyways. I'm not even a musician, just a dabbler. ^.^;;

I should mention, while I'm thinking of it, that the beginning part of the chorus section - the first two bars there that only have three different notes between them - are actually part of a larger overall musical theme of the world. It's supposed to sound slightly synthesized and unreal because their world works, in important ways, just like a large computer. It's even called 'The System'.
