Magma dragons full of magma actually put off more heat than a forge, making them perfect for the dwarven smiths that co-inhabit those underground dwelling places!

The concept of this is charming, and the execution is delightful. There's an almost storybook quality to this one, and I like that very much.

I'm glad that came through because that's very much what I was going for.
Actually broke it up into almost a triptych, and then had something interesting, or a bit of story, going on in each 3rd of the picture.

The earth, and I'm not sure which golden shine you're referring to as there are multiple dwarves, but the leftmost one is holding up a piece of gold because the dragons tail drips molten precious metals, and the middle dwarves are forging so they have heated pieces of metal!

Like I said before, this is both a wonderful concept and a forge-ously illustrated scene. I love the golden ambience and details of the mine, they are exceptionally similar to the setting in the films.

Thanks! I had a lot of fun putting those extra details in, and while it wasn't directly referencing or based on any films, I can say I was definitely inspired by Erebor in the Hobbit, hehe.

I love magma related dragons. :> I had a character who ran a smithy who was a dragon that could spit magma and stuff. They'd swallow metals and spit them out molten into moulds.

Seeing a more feral type dragon as a smithy pet is super cute, too! :D

Hehe, this guy does something similar with his tail, that's what the dwarf on the left is doing, collecting the molten precious metals into gold bar molds!

Ahhh this came out so great Sugarboy! I can't tell you how many times I pull the pic up and look at it right now. From the lighting to the absolutly happy and peaceful look of content on my guy. You not only exceded my expectations, you blew them out of the water on this painting!
