Speaking of which, I was reading a story by my favorite author, Edgar Rice Burroughs, called "The Scientists Revolt". In the story, written in 1939, he described the ability to move matter through electrical impulses. In other words, a transporter beam. I wonder if Gene Roddenberry was a fan of ERB. Hmm.
The Great Bird of the Galaxy was a fan of all sorts of fantasy. He once wrote of reading too much H. G. Wells as a child (the Science Fiction and Adventure stuff). I figure he ate Burroughs for breakfast.
And yes, I recall reading that particular story in one of my collections, m-a-n-y years ago!

I've actually "discovered" a lot of ERB's works recently through Amazon. I knew he was a very prolific writer but I didn't realize how prolific until I found the ERBdom website and his books on Amazon. I know everyone knows about Tarzan and, possibly, John Carter; but, I wonder how many people know about all of his other stories. Whoa!
