Endless Realms bestiary - Rhodochrosite Dragon
Bestiary artwork for Endless Realms, a D&D-like "pen and paper" fantasy RPG I'm working for.
Rhodochrosite - love, friendship, comfort, stability
Differing from other dragon concepts in the game so far, this dragon isn't a demigod or avatar of a particular elemental or cosmic force. For the gemstone dragons, I was given almost entirely free reign, so I decided to take inspiration from historical and pagan lore.
She's supposed to be made from rhodochrosite, but I'm pretty sure she's actually made of ice cream :b Or candy. Or both? Mmm...

Heh, yes, she is - I had to make her match her stone, after all ;) Thanks a lot! And yeah, I wanted to give her a softer, warmer feel to her, so I thought feather wings would suit that, plus I've done a ton of dragons now and figured we could use more feathery winged ones :b
Thanks! Awesome, glad to hear it :3 And yes, Malachite has already been done: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/19737623/
In regions where Rhodochrosite Dragons are known to dwell, it often becomes tradition to present a trinket that includes some form of the gemstone as a sign of one's affection for another. Whether this is specifically to one's significant other or to a really close friend depends on the way such trinkets are presented to the intended recipient. In other regions, households may possess a small statuette comprised of the gemstone in one of the dragon's images where families offer brief prayers for continued stability in their lives throughout the seasons.
At least that's what I could imagine happening. :P
