This is a live performance recording of the piece I put on for my senior recital, it's for 15 instruments and narrator. The narrator tells a story about a journey for magic, which is very much influenced by video games. The whole thing is 40 minutes long, I'm posting it here in pieces. The balance sounded great in the hall but the recording makes the levels a bit funny, especially with the narrator since he moves around during the story, so I'm posting the text of each section. The musicians were great to work with, they learned a lot of music in a very short period of time, it gets a little shaky in some spots but you can hear they get right back together again, only very good musicians can play something this exposed/difficult under the conditions they did, they're awesome! :D I hope you enjoy it, and please any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Roan Tesa, a quaint little village...
East of the mountains, north of the great forest, southwest of nowhere in particular.
A wonderful place if your aspirations involve farming, but an unlikely place to find any excitement.
Here you’ve lived all your life. You, contrary to this place, are young and eager.
Your days have been filled with tales of other places, looking out into the distance with curiosity while helping with the village chores. You feel that surely you could be doing greater things....
Word has been sent, you are wanted at the village Elder’s cabin.
What could she want?
The door opens- (Old woman’s voice) “There you are, do come in...”
“I have been sensing something in you as of late, young one.”
“Do you know anything about magic?”
“Some can summon a spark, or stop a cut from bleeding.”
“A small few can do more.”
“Not for an age has this modest part of our world seen a sorcerer.”
“But in you I think there may be a chance to grow to have such power. Listen closely-”
“There is only one place one from Roan Tesa can be trained in the ways of magic, and it is far from here. But to enter this place, you need to bring proof of your abilities and resolve. The High Order has many secrets and tells us village elders little, but this much I know: If you wish to pursue a life free of the restrictions you have here, the Order says you must follow the south road into the forest. The rest, if it is meant to be, will take place. What will happen or why, I cannot say or control, and you would be on your own.”
“You are willing to go? Good fortunes to you then, and pack only what you need, for your way will be long...”
