May's Beast of the Month will just be a mini event, seeing as there are only 3 days left in the month, heh. All 6 designs (including the one featured above) will be posted for sale over the next week, so keep your eyes peeled!

This month's beasty is my own creation. I affectionately call them Skin-Folk! May's Skin-Folk feature a fox theme, but just as taxidermy can include all manner of critters, so too can Skin-Folk be just about anything! Including hybrids of creatures. They are essentially animal remains that have been preserved and spiritually imbued with new life. They don't have meaty bits like real animals (unless specifically designed to). I prefer not to draw them with eyes (they don't really need them), though I'm sure one could be created with glass eyes.

I have mixed feelings about dead animal bits in real life. On one hand, I don't support needless killing, but on the other hand, pelts always seem to resonate with me, like they have a life of their own. For that, I greatly admire them. These Skin-Folk beasties are a reflection of that appreciation.

They rather remind me of my Figments, and I really want to explore them more in the future (I've got the ideas!). But for now, I've started with these few Fox Skin-Folk.
