Process: Poppies Burning (Build-Up III)
(Ugh, appears too dark on some screens. I'll have to lighten shadows more so folks can see details better. Conflabbed digital painting troubles! Oh well, lol.)
More values, more color, more detail. This process reminds me of charcoal figure-drawings, the gradual build-up and deepening of details. Should be finished in one or two more sessions.

Yes, and picking-out the light shapes from the dark, that part is always magic to me. How form can imply itself with just a few well composed strokes of varied values. I struggle not to go over-board (all the light everywhere!), but I'm really learning a lot this year!
