Verdant Mandrake is a sentient plant / pixie. Born in the late Byzantine period, he is a distant descendant of the Tetrarchs. He was never very religious but as it was popular in his time he went upon a pilgrimage to Durham. upon returning to Byzantium he discovered that it had been taken by Turkish empire. Mandrake was persecuted for crimes against the state and later executed. It is unclear if he is responsible for his crimes.
