My first submission to FACCC2
Being a big and busy monster I REALLY need my filling dose of energy in the morning. If not i'm quite a grouchy monster. That being said, I rarely have time to cook up something in the morning. Luckily this can be prepared the night before and ready in the morning!
This is for 1 critter. Unless you'd like to share.
You'll need
- 3 qt Mason Jar *A little bigger is just fine*
****Please make sure you sterilize your jar before using it****
Base Ingredients are as follows.
Oats - 1/3 cup
Chia Seeds - 1 tbsp
Milk - 1/4 cup
***Dairy, Almond, Hemp, Soy, or Rice milk is totally fine!***
Greek Yogurt - 1/4 cup
- Add the oats first, then the chia seeds
- Pour your milk next, then add your greek yogurt
Once you make your base you can add any combination of ingredients you'd like.
Here's my favorite mix.
Ingredients are as follows for the Peanut Butter and Banana topping
Maple Syrup - 1 tbsp
Peanut Butter - 1 1/2 tbsp
Banana - 1/2 Sliced Banana
***Optional***
Some chopped nuts -
- Combine your syrup, peanut butter, then bananas on top of your base.
- Once done simply put the lid on and put it in the fridge
There's lots of protein in this breakfast mix to give you that energy needed in the morning, as well as added health benefits from the chia seeds!
You can even heat it up for a warm oatmeal breakfast. :D

I have always wondered how this kind of prepared breakfast works. I always thought that oats had to be cooked in some way to be edible. I may have to give it a go. I am diabetic so oats are supposed to be something that are good for me to have as a starter for the day. Do you have any other flavour combinations to suggest? *hugs* thank you for sharing this with the ~faccc2
Honestly all you gotta do is let the oats soak overnight. The same goes with the chia seeds. If you let the chia seeds soak overnight it'll prevent blood sugar spikes when eating. As well as keep you fuller and hydrated a bit longer.
I've got some more flavor variations, just need to upload it. :3
