To the west of the kingdom of Aurelius lies a vast expanse of desolate land simply referred to as the Western Frontier. Within this territory lies the "Engine City" A large independent city-state whose culture has been forced to rely on machines due to the harshness of their environment. Within the city, its rare for its citizens to reach the age of 18 and without being "Steeled," a process that replaces a lost limb or organ with machines.
One of the citizens of this city is a young skunk named Meph, a brilliant engineer, by the age of 16 she was already designing her own limbs, and by the age of 24 she was already able to replace 80% of her body with machines. But she wanted to push it further went trough with what everyone thought was insanity: to have her entire body "steeled."
Then came the moment of truth... she replaced her own brain with mechanical equivalent, she used an all new method of using magic to instill her consciousness into the machine. However the process backfired and destroyed the consciousness within her. The experiment was considered a failure and she was officially declared dead...
...for now.
I really was aiming for Steampunk-Clockwork with the Engine city concept and Meph's design as to not be disruptive of the swords and sorcery theme of my story... but as Im still unknowledgable of it, she ended up with a rather hi tech mecha design. -_-'
That thing she is holding is the "Mana Chopper" its edge is maintained by a flow of Mana and is wielded like a chainsaw.
