Behind one's strength there always is a story, significant enough for an individual to change for the better, for what it seeks to be. Iriss wasn't always the confident, strong-looking woman she is today and in fact, wasn't most of her life.
Her father was a proud lion who saw his natural fierceness as a mean for others, and surprisingly to his family chose to marry a girl from a prey species, an antelope. Love knows no bondaries after all, and their bond led to Iriss' birth who carried both their traits. A child from an inter-species often takes one or the other's characteristics, but sometimes inherits features from both parents. A tall figure like her father's, her mother's kindness and slim frame, she was like a prey with a predator's figure and was sometimes mocked for that, even bullied because of her appearance when she was a child. It didn't affected her that much, her mother was enough to blow away any bad vibe during her growth, while her father often kept the dominant role and did his best to look strong for his family, though he worked a lot... Everything was fine this way, and even to this day Iriss doesn't have anything to complain about the way she was raised.
Then, adulthood came and like most females at that age, Iriss tried to be more independent like it should be. Friends came and went, and love affairs naturally emerged in her life. The city was vast, yet she met that big lion male at her part-time job, appearing to her as a gentleman and as young and inexperienced as she was, Iriss felt attracted towards him. He was showing compassion rather than disgust to her prey side, saying he would be the alpha that will protect her... Yes, an alpha he was but as time passed, Iriss understood the real meaning behind this designation. Controling. Strong, yet easily violent. He was the man in command and she was only the prey, the female who should be at his service. Bond by submissiveness and her lingering feelings, she dealt with his behaviour, until the day everything changed. She was pregnant with his child, something that male didn't see coming and didn't accepted at all. Yet, Iriss wanted to keep it, and a violent dispute occured. One where the lioness inherited the scar that branded her left eye even now, yet the blood that was spilled stopped his tantrum and since that incident, made him run away. Looking so strong, yet a coward on the inside...
Her injury aside, Iriss felt in depression after that blow but still refused to have an abortion and carried her way to it, despite having her heart unsure about that matter... What if her child looked like his despicable excuse of a father ? Her thoughts were a total mess, and the hardships of her pregnancy didn't make things all simplier, stressing her out... Yet, when it was over and she first held her newborn son in her hands, her mind calmed down all of a sudden. He was there, he was hers and none could steal that away from her, that little, fragile yet beautiful thing in her arms. It became a turning point in Iriss' life, and she became more lively than she ever was. She started to work out, put away everything that could do harm to her or her son, wanting to do everything fine to be a great mother. One that could cherish her child, that could stand for him and also herself, she wanted to become stronger, confident enough for her son to be proud of her. To be safe with her, and loved like no other kid would. He gave ger a meaning, so... Iriss swore to give him, everything.

Introducing Rafael, my lioness hybrid's 8 years-old son and her sunshine~ I never planned to give Iriss a child in the first place, but in the end I just couldn't help it. She had that kind-of vibe to her since the beginning, somehow and things came out to conclude on that backstory '-'
And who was better to make this fantasy real, if not the artist that already worked on Iriss and helped me to make her the way she is now. Once again, Chessi did a wonderful work on this commission and it looks so precious... Nyaaww >w<
Chessi made another magificent art, original is here.
