This took up most of my day yesterday, getting back into texturing fur was an not an easy task. Now I should be able to do it a bit faster. But anyhow this is Jamie
theoriginalartic 's character for the comic he commissioned me to draw. It's already story boarded and I'll be sketching them up soon.
I think I'm getting a bit better with background... just a tad. I have to say I love my friends the burn and dodge tool (they are also the tools used to make Jamie's fur) a simple process really, it just takes time and a keen eye for detail since you are pretty much drawing in every strand of fur.
O and while trying to use blotch as a reference for both drawing style of coloring I found that trying to replicate his traditional coloring using markers is a bit hard to replicate digitally... it's probably quite possible (actually I think I'll do a google search on it) but I'll probably just stick with what I know.
O and in case you were wondering the colored fur around his arms were completely random symbols till I found an actual meaning behind them. The ones closest to the wrists stand for Earth, the one above that stands for Wind, and the one above that in the boldest style stands for Water.
The symbols on his speedos are really just random.
