.... yes well
I hope you guys don't get annoyed seeing this picture again! The shape of her eyes has been bothering me for some time (see: my eye study - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/21114397/ ), so I just bit the bullet and did a little update again.

Ohh I really like this. I love the make up. ^^ I can help you out a bit with this. I made a quick edit to point things out: link
The first thing I noticed is that the left eye wasn't sitting in the same perspective as the skull, making it look a bit wonky. Also the eyes were a bit too big for realistic proportions. It made them a bit cartoony. The eye whites were way too bright and white. For white people they share the same value as the skin, but since she's dark skinned they should share the same values as the lightest shades on her skin. I simply picked her skintone and softly painted over it to dim them down. I also accentuated the upper eyelids a bit more. I hope that helps ^^

Okay, I went ahead and made some changes! I changed the file on the submission page so you should be able to see it, and then the one I had up before was here:http://sta.sh/03tuil4fygm
I decided not to make the eyes too much smaller in this one because I felt it looked more cheerful. But hopefully it looks a little better now, your advice helped a lot. That comment about the values of the skin is super helpful. I think it would help with all my drawings of humans, actually.
Anyway I probably won't work on this one anymore since I've been fiddling with it for a year and a half haha.

Oh. My. Lord.
The way you painted her cornrows struck a personal nerve with me. Not only is that such a tough thing to tackle, but you even got a braiding pattern in there! Very, very awesome job. <3
Fuzzo definitely has a point in their comments. The whites of my eyes are a lot much yellower/darker than my Caucasian counterparts, so even though having whiter eyes is stylistically better in a cartoonier fashion, if you're opting for realism, they can be too bright. I love seeing all three versions though. You've come so far, and I'm glad that each change you made shows your growth as an artist, and decision maker.

One of rhe initial design aspects (aka other than her personality) that I chose for this character was that I wanted her to have an asymmetrical braiding pattern, as there are many characters with cornrows but they are usually just straight from what Ive seen. Im really glad you like them ^^
and thank you for the critique, its definitely something i should have taken into account!

I decided to take some time to rework the eyes, I think they look much better. I changed the submission file so you should be able to see it, and the old one is here for comparison: http://sta.sh/03tuil4fygm
